Default 6 weeks for turbo

Hi all. It's finally on it its way from focus-power.com

Aside from the kit I've ordered a clutchmasters stg4 and fly and a stealth fx bov.

Yes very excited as one would be.

It's direct bolt on system, with no guesswork. I would like to know who in Melbourne can install and tune this thing for a fair price. Any ideas? Doesn't have to be ford people just any workshop that has a decent rep.

blah,
riz

I'd doubt you'd use anyone from Ford to do it, they wouldn't be used to installing turbos!

Try Herrods if he'll do it... you might even get a bit him to give a free plug.

Otherwise (meaning in the real world) perhaps APS might do it or know someone who can?

Are you going to be using an aftermarket computer to run the whole thing? or are you planning or re-mapping the original?

The reason I ask is that a lot of workshops stick to their own aftermarket computer and are able to give you best results by tuning it for you. If it is as you say a bolt on system, then any competent mechanic can fit it. It all comes down to the final state of tune which will give you best results.

Tom is using his custom tuning with recalibrated MAF and bigger inj. It's a re-map.

I don't have the skills to do it myself. Won't go to mechanic although it did cross my mind, just don't see them having a dyno readily available.

Who's Rank Rotary

Resty,

do you have any other threads with more info on what you're doing? I suddenly find myself very interested in the whole idea turboing a Focus but I dont expect you to type it all out again!

No word from Tom (Focus-power) as yet although he did say that it would be real soon. Toms full kit

All the info on the kit is there. On a stock US focus on 91/93 it makes about 200hp/200tq. On 98 Tom believes it will hit 250@w easy. What's good about his kit is that the day u want to push it beyond 250 u dont need anymore from the kit. The front mount intercooler flows sufficienty for 400hp the 42lbs inj are just right. Build the bottom end "yes" but no need to touch the kit or turbo as its makes 320+hp. The only thing I would say this kit needs to go beyond 250 is fuel pump and build up. Prolly another $3000-$4000 all up.

The stealth FX bov u can check out http://www.gfb.com.au/ 17 different adjustments Vent to atmo or can be pb.

The clutch and fly are both made by Clutchmasters Here
Although I dont need this much holding power I thought I would get it anyway as I know some day Ill be pushing for 300, 350...etc. So I would rather have it there. Toms reckons the pedal is softer than what people think. A slight learning curve.

I'm expecting ET's of 13's. Tom to date has done 518hp@w with an 11.88 1/4. I think those are awsome numbers! And that car was on stock cams. He did however switch to auto.

The tq numers he produces is incredible. For example a SC may have 200hp but the tq is crap say 150/170. There's heapsa info in focus fanatics and focal jet. Just look in Forced Induction. Although the numbers they are producing are based on mostly 93 or 91.

Just to add some more info on what else is to come:
Looking at getting the new Nexus guages from Autometer. Absolutely beautiful! Comes with remote and console/module, but very pricey. One gauge will cost almost $600 and the module is necessary costing another $500.

I don't need a boost controller as the wastegate also comes with the kit. Mid range power is better with ebc. So maybe one day.

No need to change the stock TB as it allows airflow beyond 250.

Also getting Quaife LSD. Just reading up on Advance-Trac and LSD. Don't think I should have problems with both installed as they are 2 different things altogther. (anyone who has idea on this lemmi know pls)

3" custom exhaust when kit gets here. No need for fancy name brands, I have always believed that as long as it's stainless steel they're all the same.

blah,
riz
