So, I got a 2" cat-back exhaust installed yesterday. : Got it done at Castle Hill Exhaust. I gotta say the guys did an excellent job.
I wanted the exhaust to be on the quiet side. It'd be too quiet for most people but it sounds really nice to me. Not a real head-turner but still louder and better than stock. I chosed not to have tips as I want it to look stock. It's pretty much unnoticable 2000rpm and below. It comes alive 2250rpm up, but once it's 3000rpm+.... the engine and the exhaust notes, IMO, blend well together. The guy at the exhaust shop said for me to give it a week for it to carb up. It'll sound slightly deeper and louder then. Performance gain?... it doesnt add much power but i notice that it's much easier and quicker to get up to..say... 3000rpm than before. Throttle response is slightly improved and smoother. The car feels lighter and more edgy. :eclipsee_ Overally im pretty happy with it so far, I wanna hear how it is after it has worn-in a bit. Thanks Castle Hill Exhaust and everyone that has given me advices about cat-back exhaust. Cheers, Ivan Last edited by HyperKid; 26-11-2006 at 12:04 AM. |

Yeah the fiesta does sound neat with an exhaust. Trick is to keep em quiet, they sound might nicer that way... sorta sounds tighter ;)

:hihi:
Yeah, you asked how many mufflers does it have... I think when I look back on it, the guy said something about resonator, pipe works and muffler. I think the cylindrical looking thing near the catalytic converter is the resonator and the muffler is down the back. So I guess there's only 1 muffler. |

resonator makes quite a difference, i have to use an overly large rear muffler to compensate for the missing resonator

How much did it set you back HyperKid?
So if a cat-back was to be installed, what "parts" would it need?

220-240 is right on the money for 2inch cat back.
If you want to add some nice stainless exhaust tips, maybe add 80-120 ontop of that figure. they charge alot for the tips :P

All of the local exhaust shops charge an arm and a leg for tips out of their catalogues.
