Default Are EA's faster then EF-EL's

just reading through a thread asking what would beat a vn and found it interesting that the main car mentioned was an EA spac, but I've eaten any EA-ED (excluding xr's) thats ever lined me up in the EF.

just wondering what model should be faster

it's entirely down to how well the car was looked after, how many km's it has on it, what hidden mods are done, if it has a leaky head gasket, exhaust/muffler leaks, timing issues/bad plugs.. and what it had when it left the factory, since there are variances between identical factory cars. Not easy to compare.

say they were both looked after really well, service regularly and such, what would you expect to be quicker?

my mate just bought an ea s pack, only mods are exhaust and recoed head and it actually goes pretty good, its manual. I have an El xr6 man with only exhaust mods and he defenitly keeps up with me.

That isnt my old car is it? The old girl went pretty hard.

Youll find the EAs are a fair whack lighter than the later model Eseries, so an EA with a manual and a good driver will row past most falcons easy.

Didnt they do like mid 15s stock? pull off the exhaust and add a CAI and youre hitting high 14s with decent tyres.

Comon lets not start with this again.

I pulled a 15.3 with bald tyres. a singel-spinner and those mods (if you could call it that) and my engine wasnt exactly fresh.

I was tempted to keep the car for another month or so and get the numbers but really, who cares.

Then theres oneredED who pulled a 15.6 with an extra 200kg on board (ED, gas gear and he carries his bed in the car cause hes a bum :monkes: ) a blocket exhaust, and an inlet restrictor.

big difference between 'could' and actually doing it.
fact is until it happens, it really is a bold statement
but yes, the potential is there.

Check an old wheels mag for the specs. The only way for an accurate comparison would be to compare to two brand new cars. As the others have mentioned it would be hard to find two cars to compare (nowadays) of the same condition.

**** off boss. I wouldn't be a bum if you payed me more you scrooge... :P

Face it man, your bomb of a car was a freak. I don't reckon other EA's would do the same time with the same mods. I agree though, your "mods" were more like "broken stuff I didnt fix". I'll put my credibility on the line here (not that I have ANY lol) and say your car would have definately pulled a 14.9 with some better tires and an LSD, and I don't think that's typical of an EA S-pac.
