Hi,everyone, and thanks for your time.I was wondering
If you could help me out with a niggling problem. My petrol seems to be seeping out of the filler cap when driving. It only appears to be coming from the slot where the key is inserted. When checking it after a drive I can see the splash down the rear fender. This happens regardles of wether the tank is full or quarter full. I have replaced the cap with new one but still same problem. I have the long tank installed behind back seat in boot. The car is a Ford escort mk2 1978 model. Any advice would be appreciated. Thank you. |

When you say its behind the seat is it one of the alloy rally types from the UK? Haven't dealt with them before... One of the pipes at the sender should be for a return line, plumb that up to the carbon canister and it should help the tank breathe... If the fuels coming out when your cornering sounds like the tank needs baffles fitted...

Carbon canister is a round black container located passenger side firewall in the engine bay... Alot of them get pulled out over the years so it may be gone...
