Hi all,
I believe this has been discussed before but i could not find exactly what i wanted on a search. i'm thinking of buying a transmission cooler & bypassing the radiator. My problem is i do not do any towing, really hard driving and the car is not a daily driver. I'm thinking only of the radiator letting go and ruining the transmission. Would the transmission oil heat still heat up normally or would it tend to run too cool putting stress on the transmission. there is a group buy on B&M coolers and that is the one i want to install. My car is an au1 forte, 87k Thanks |

It will be fine. The hotter the trans oil gets the more it breaks down so the cooler you can keep it the better within reason, but in saying that it wont get cool enough to cause issues.
If you're paranoid purchase and fit a trans oil temp gauge at the same time.

Research the B&M cooler and you will see it has low pressure bypass for when the trans oil is to cool. Its Australia so or less your working and living in the snowline you should be fine.
