SOME people think sports cars are threatened with extinction by tightening restrictions on carbon-dioxide emissions and unacceptable fuel-guzzling. They fear the roar of the V8 will be replaced by the whirr of the electric armature—and that motoring will never be the same again. Well, it ought to be quieter, that is true. But the Jeremy Clarksons and J. Bonington Jagworths of this world need not fear that it will be slower.

They may well be faster, but I shall find it hard to be passionate about driving something related to white goods and sounds much the same

I can see it now - the 2025 Australian F1 Grand Prix - 300km - takes 8 hours. 1.5 hours for the driving part, 6.5 hours for the pitstop to recharge

come off it are you for real - pretty sure an F1 team could afford a second set of fully charged cells that will be hotswapped in seconds and the removed ones placed on charge :
