XR4, There is very little bolt on stuff for the 1.6. Whereas the 2.0 can easily be tweeked as deep as your pockets.

As John said an XR4 would probably be the best option, 150bhp standard with good gains to be made with a few mods ... a lot of cars in South Africa and the UK are running in excess of 190bhp.

If you want to mod the 1.6 Duratec there are more limited options,

Pumaspeed in the UK have a few goodies though ... but remember even with a lot of mods (and money) you still won't get the 1.6 even up to the 150bhp of the stock XR4.

Might be better to put the money you would otherwise spend on mods toward an XR4 and be done with it.

Here's a link to what Pumaspeed have for the 1.6 anyhow ..

Burton Power can tell you a bit more about the engine & what it's capable of.
Someone on here has done a turbo, you'll have to dig back about a year to find it.

either choose a track with less straights in it : ... or as others have said... go for the xr4.

there's only one other guy that has done a turbo that was on here ages ago... and from memory it was more trouble than it was worth.

I guess if she never looks under the bonnet or at the credit card statement, anything is possible.
Hmmm...?

Someone has to bring the Mountune kit out here. As soon as they do, and its a reasonable price... Man the sales should go crazy...
