Hi Matt,
As you're my go-to man for brake advice, I want to ask you about Speed Bleeders. I'm thinking of installing them on all my calipers to make bleeding a simple one-man job. Any good? Also, what size are the nipples in the Brembos and PBR 1-spot calipers please if you know this? Cheers, Joe.

I've just been googling and see that Goodridge make their own speed bleeders too... Are you able to get these in Matt?

Ah, good thinking Matt.
Part number is SB1010S. Now I've just realized that this is the same part number from Speed Bleeders themselves, so it appears that they make them for Goodridge to supply as their own.

Whoa!!! I would love to be able to buy these things in Australia!
I tried finding these in Australia last year and failed miserably. I rang Rocket Industries (ie Goodridge distributor) and the guy I spoke to said that although the part number exists on their system, they had never actually imported them. I rang a bunch of brake parts places and although everyone had heard of them, no-one had ever seen them available for sale. I ended up buying some from www.jegs.com along with some brake pads and other parts. Frustrating. Quote:
I have bought these from the US, and use the same ones both on standard Falcon callipers and my current Brembo callipers. Apparently, Commodore also uses the same ones as well. So, whether it’s standard Falcon, standard Commodore or Brembo, it’s the same speed bleeder brake nipple. I haven't tried the RU639630/SB1010S on a Commodore yet, but have used them myself on various standard Falcon front and rear calipers (including the PBR 325mm C5 calipers), as well as front and rear Brembo calipers. I bought a bunch of them last year, and would like to get a few more. I can officially confirm that the same model speed bleeder (ie RU639630/SB1010S) works on all of these calipers without any problems at all. For anyone who buys speed bleeders, make sure that you also get an 11mm spanner for them. They are not the 10mm head that other brake nipples have. They make it so easy to bleed or flush brake fluid. Quote:
- Jack up car. - Remove wheel. - Put tube on end of speed bleeder. - Loosen speed bleeder. - Go and pump brake pedal a bunch of times. - Tighten speed bleeder. - Remove tube and re-fit wheel. - Repeat for each corner. You can bleed/flush brakes on your own. In your front yard. With these, there is no excuse for crap brake fluid anymore. No need for a workshop. No need for specialised equipment. Just a few common hand tools. As mentioned above, the same bleeder will work in any Falcon/Commodore/Brembo caliper. I still can't figure out why these things are so unheard of. They should have been standard on cars decades ago.

Sorry to dig up a really old thread but I bought the RU639630 and they don't fit on my BA. Pretty sure they're stock calipers but they're in the shop at the moment so can't confirm.

Has one product number and then a tag with a different number down the bottom. I stripped the factory nipple trying to undo so took it to mechanics to get off and replace for me. They rang and they bottom out before undoing. I'll find out more in a couple days.

Besides rebuilding Toyota hybrid batteries regularly, I'm also exceptionally good at stripping apart the interior of a Prius, cleaning it all with a pressure washer and making it all look like brand new inside. As well as making 800,000km ex-taxi Camry hybrids look like they left the factory yesterday. Dammit. Shoot me.
