Default Capri conversion options

Hi want some definitive answers as I can't find info anywhere. If I buy an interstate Capri in another state do I need to reengineer it in my new state if so does it have to meet vsb14 standard or not? What is the weight of Australia's heaviest Capri ie 3lt gt with auto gearbox. Can we use overseas models as a guideline. Wanting to purchase a Capri but their seems to be know where that gives real answers. Does the original weight also really matter and can this be overcome. Vsb 14 states cubic capacity as x4 for 800kg to 1100 kg and x5 for 1100kg plus. Does anyone have a vehicle heavier on original papers of over 1100kg. Please note the delete Capri might actually have it if so the 5lt v8 should still be an option for a Capri.

V6 Capri's weighed around 1050KG (give or take 10kgs) so you can no longer put a v8 into a capri (289/302 Windsor) under the national vehicle modifications scheme.

Delete option capri's weigh the same as a normal v6 capri.

Make it clear what you want to do, are you trying to buy a v8 capri from another state, was it legally engineered in that state ? Firstly does your state recognize other states engineering sign off which can depend on who did it.... So exactly what are you trying to do?
Also what state are you from , what state car from.

Maybe look at a more modern v6 option or the 4.0 litre lexus V8 the the guy in the projects section has in his drag car. Under 9 second quarters from a road legal Capri with twin turbos.

Hi all trying to buy a v8 Capri in Nsw. Owned 7 of these when I was younger mid life crisis and all and never got my v8 running. Owned 1.6, 2lt, v6 but never drove my 302 v8. So I don't care where it comes from but don't want to payrediculous money for something unless it's worth it. It's not about speed or the quarter mile just about the ford purr of a 302 not even really a 351. Any way seems rediculous that I would have to reengineer a car back to a smaller motor if I cross borders. Spoke to RMS tech who said it would depend on the engineer and which rules or laws they choose but that is neither here nor their when I and an engineer would have so much work to do to make sure it could be done before I have bought a car (say if there were five cars I was looking at) any thoughts or suggestions. My rego papers for Mk1 V6 GT manual show 1075kg.

If you want a V8, sounds like you need to buy one from your home state, that is currently (or can prove was ) registered. Surely the rego auths can't renege on something they have already accepted?

And 4x 1100 = 4400cc = P76 all-alloy V8.........

Hi Allan, thanks for the comment but if your car weighs 1075kg as a manual then how heavy were they as an auto? Maybe with the factory fitted sunroof etc unless that is considered an accessory or not. Some one is trying to sell what he calls a delete option Capri with uprated motor, driveline and strengthened chassis in oz at the moment for $100000.00 dollars to much for me but would like to know how much his car weighs. It according to him is one of eleven cars ever made with these options and I only need to prove the heaviest model sold taking into account without accessories. Thanks Keith

You could use a Toyota 1UZ-FE 4L V8, all alloy 32V quad cam V8, they were in the late 80s Lexus LS400 and into the 90s, not overly expensive to source and a lot of information out there about them.
