Does the engine vibration decrease with engine revs? If so, replace the harmonic balancer....They have a habit of crudding themselves and causing the vibration you describe

start by doing plugs and leads, also clean MAF and throttle body, if that doesnt fix it then harmonic balancer would be the next bet.

Transmax Z is what I use in the gearbox (but mine is manual) and SAF-XA for the diff.

I destroyed a harmonic balancer on my old nf v8, the mechanic told me originally the vibration was caused by dirty injectors when all along it was just the balancer detatching itself, it also calmed down at about 1500 revs and upwards

Vibration is the balancer or engine mounts.

Transmission needs Castrol TQ95.

at 200K it probably has the original coil pack and it is way past it's use by date. a dodgy coild pack can cause the problem you describe

Most falcon diffs practically whine from factory. I wouldn't worry about it too much. Change the diff fluid.

Likewise with the auto, do a full fluid flush (not just a drop pan). If this doesn't fix it you might have a dud solenoid. While your doing the flush, it's a good idea to install a external transmission cooler from ebay and have it bypass the radiator. Not too expensive.

Vibration definetely sounds like harmonic balancer at those RPM. They tend to cause most troubles between 1000-1500rpm.

If you put S2-3 Buttons on a S1 (or vise versa), this is probably it. It's a compatability issue between them. I see you have a S1. Look at the buttons now on it. Does the top left button have an "s" in a circle? If so, you've put S2-3 buttons on your S1. To confirm this, check the old buttons. No "s" on those, means you've crossed series'.

BTW, if you have your aftermarket stereo working with your steering wheel buttons previously, someone has done some good compatability work. It's a little fiddly and depending on how you go about it, costly too. By costly I mean between $100-200 odd, but many here wouldn't pay that. I'm in that group! LOL!

I must say though, the wheel mounted controls are certainly handy.
