Default Shift lights

I wanna make a nice subtle little shift light to sit on the instrument cluster with out a dirty big tacho coz the car has one factory. Just a simple LED. But, how do I wire it all up with the coil pack? Has anyone done anything similar? Parts and schematics people :eclipsee_
