how did you re-wire the reversing lights and the inhibitor switch?
Also did you switch the speedo gears?

Doing the reverse lights and speedo just requires some basic common sense.
Use your auto gearbox loom, chop it up, and get rid of the round plug and wires. Then take the white terminals off one end, leaving the black terminal at the engine side in tact. Then use a test light and figure out which wires are for the reverse lights/inhibitor switch/speedo, and plug em in. It's pretty easy to work out, just need a test light anc common sense. The ECU will go straight in no worries if you do the loom like i said.

have you got a cam in your engine?
The idle problem could be a broken idle circuit in your manual ECU, or the ECU hasn't learnt properly, or the cam in the engine is causing the bad idle.
