Default If you had your time again

As the title suggests, if you were to mod your car from the day you first got it, what would you do different. I am interested to see whether people have changed their mind over the years.

For me I would

Stay with the stock body kit
18" Pursuit Rims
Lowered
Tint

I would keep the stock exhaust and make the car more agressive in subtle modifications. I would also have done some work to the interior. Not to the extent of painting any parts of it as I mich prefer the standard look, but things like DVD screens and maybe a retrim. Things like that.

Stripes I would probabbly do again as they are the best part I think to my car. I love it as it gets looks.

So what would you do. Exactley the same you have, or go down the road of different changes.

Would have gone 19's, and a turbo, and not gone Monroe GT's, but something a little more expensive. Other than that, although it is all in the pipeline, nothing else. But all that will happen in the end.

I would have stayed to purely performance mods, leave everything standard in the looks department, and tried to get everything out of the engine possible... Much different to the path I have chosen...

I would have bought a S2 75th Anniversary Ghia in Meteorite, loaded with goodies, V8, sunroof and whacked it on gas!

Oh the regrets!

I would have saved all the money i spent on the Classic, sold it and put all the money together and bought an AUIII XR8 5-speed manual!! I probably still would have had some money left over for an edit and exhaust!

Im happy with the appearance of the car, but I would have waited a little longer, saved more.. and bought an AU Xr6. But it wouldnt take much effort to get a XR front bar banged on.

Im not overally concerned with getting high performance out of the Six.. Im planning on keeping the Forte for as long as possible, so the next step might be adding a leather interior.

The only thing i'd have done differently with my old AU would have been to keep a standard clutch in it instead of a heavy duty clutch. Other than that, i had it just how i wanted it.

When i bought mine there were 3 cars that I looked at.

My XR6
Blueprint Series 2 XR8, manual with about 60,000 on the clock, no leather, no sunroof, no premo sound or premo brakes for the same price as mine.
Series 3 Venom Havoc. I think thats what it was. Rebel rear Bar and side skirts, with stock front bar. It was $2,000 cheaper, but it was E-gas

Then I took the Mrs to look at the cars. Red as a colour, she dislikes. Saw the leather and the sunroof and the black and decided that was it. I showed her the XR8.

Should have gone a V8 in the first place. A Pursuit would have been perfect.

Other than that ... an S1 TE50 front bar would look nice on the ute though.
More engine mods for the I6 ... S/C for my application would be the way to go.

Although i can see the positives and enjoyment from every modification i have done, here is what i would have changed.

# never put in a ceramic button clutch, instead i should have put a good std clutch with a improved lightened flywheel - the ceramic button is not user friendly although it does hook up very nicely.
# never do cheap exhaust repairs or replacements - simply sounds shite and hummms like a whor?
# save burning rubber and the cost of new tires so i can afford an edit and tune!
# not wasted my money on expensive $60/litre redline (shite) transmision fluids

apart from those minor changes everything i have been wrapped with and would never look back, its all part of being a enthusiast.

it was all a learning experience, which i wouldnt change just make the next car purchase alot smoother

thing i would change is find FF.com.au BEFORE buying the car, but i would have said i found an AU3, venom, 5sp SR for a good price compared to most other places and you lot would have said go for it......i hope?

I just wish that I did thrash it so much, and wish I didnt park it in supermarket carparks, its got soooo many dints/scratches from shopping trollies and people hitting my car when they open the door.
But other than that I like the mods that ive done to it.
