Default ea booster... question

hey all..

from what i understand, the ea uses a single diaphragm brake booster where as later models, i think xr6 and the v8's use a double diaphragm booster..

a few quetions..

would the master cylinder also need to be changed, or just the booster..

would it make a noticeable difference to pedal effort?

which models featured the larger booster.. does it have anything abs to worry about?

thanks,
santo

master cylinder doesn't need to be changed, the V8/XR boosters do have a spacer between master cylinder and booster that you'll have to be sure to grab.
I did mine at the same time I did slotted rotors and bendix ultimate pads, so not sure what made the most change, but I got a bit less pedal effort, and alot better pedal feel.
Got rid of that kind of dead feeling the stock pedal has.
AFAIK, they came in all the V8s, and all the ED XRs.
Booster not affected by ABS, so don't have to worry about it.
The boosters are a bit fiddly to get in and out, the bolts often catch in the pedal box/firewall on the way out.
I've done it in two EDs, and in both the pedal box was a bit out from factory, made it hard to get it in, so we ran a drill bit through just to open up the holes ever so slightly so it slid straight in.
Hope that helps dude, its definately a worthwhile mod IMO.
