Default top gear show

Did anybody watch top gear on monday night. They had to spend 10000pounds on a early 80s sports car. While watching this red v6 piece of crap started making some major engine noises (they suggested it was the tappets) being a mechanic by trade i casual turned to my wife (being smart) and said sound like no2 bearing is about to let go.No more then ten minutes later what happens the motor blows (no2 rod goes thur the block) i turned to my wife a said i told you.She was amazed it was just a lucky guess but she was amazed (sad but true)

It was a 1970s, Mid-Engined, Italian Supercar, that they had to spend 10k pounds on.

The "Red V6 piece of crap" was a Maserati Merak. 3.0litre V6 with 190hp @ 6000rpm and 188ftlbs @ 4000rpm. When new (1972-1976), that thing would out-accelerate a 351 GT Falcon. Clarkson's one was just screwed...

For anyone who's interested... the other two cars were a (1973-1979) Ferrari Dino 308 GT4 (2.9litre 16v DOHC V8, 255hp @ 7700rpm) and a (1972-1976) Lamborghini Urraco P250 (2.5litre V8, 220hp @ 7500rpm and 166ftlbs @ 3500rpm).

I love the engine blowout scene... its hilarious... "I've got no brakes!"

Three nice cars, it's a shame about the mechanical condition they were in.

That's a shame.
The earlier stuff is (in some instances) comparable to their latest stuff.

Last night I was watching Episode 8 or Series 8 (I think) where they did the test of 3 different Vans. The 2nd last test, where they had to flog it around the track, I was just about to say "If Hammond doesn't watch out, he'll roll that Suzuki" and he beat me to it!

That was another **** funny episode...

Love it. Love the Supercar series too, even though they are repeats. And yes, it was a shame to see those cars like that... funny how Clarkson's car had had $10K/pounds spent on it... hahaha. The dyno was funny too.

I liked the other supercar one where they drove their newer versions (Pagani Zonda, Ford GT and Ferarri?) out of the French car parking station... Clarkson had to bash a wooden crate to make a ramp so they wouldnt scratch bumpers...

I also liked the plane one and the Bugatti - Hamster and James in the plane "We have to land now, its nighttime and I am not allowed to fly at night"... something like that...hehe.

Love it.

Before the engine died James May said it wasn't the tappets but something much more serious.
