Default Music Decade

It seems the youngsters rule these polls, time to prove this point.
I vote for the 70s, the decade of real music.
eg: Eagles,Fleetwood Mac,Pink Floyd,ELO,Bowie,Disco,Glam,Punk..etc

I was born in the era I love. The 80s.... :sm_headba

I also like late 70s, and early 90s, but new music just doesn't appeal to me, with a few expections.

I do like Nickelback.

"OMG..........what an almost impossible question to ponder"

Such great work has been achieved over pretty much any decade.
In the end I had to vote 80's although I would much rather had voted "Late 70's through to Late 80's" perhaps.

Here are some of the Masterpieces "IMHO" that were achieved during that era,

1979: Joy Division - Unknown Pleasures, Pink Floyd - The Wall

1981: The Cure - Faith, U2 - October

1982: Dire Straits - Love Over Gold, Haircut 100 - Pelican West

1983: Pink Floyd - The Final Cut

1984: Cocteau Twins - Treasure, This Mortal Coil - It'll End in Tears

1985: The Smiths - Meat is Murder, The Waterboys - This is the Sea

1988: Talk Talk - The Spirit of Eden

1970s without a doubt. But can tolerate music up to about 1985.
New music is SHITE. That latest song by U2 sounds like they wrote it in 5 minutes, very weak, and James Blunt.... well he's just PITIFUL, it's true.

hard one to vote on.
there has been some real gems from each decade and there has been some utter garbage as well each decade as well.
actually, as i have an appreciation for all forms of music, i choose not to vote on a singular decade.

I went the 50's. I really really wish I was alive back then, so I could have been a greaser.

Then there's bands like Faith No More which I can't seem to get around taking out of the CD stacker. On top of that a bunch of metal bands that came to the fore in the 90's and are still going now

I second this, although some of my favorites started out in the 80's, but also carried on with it in the 90's.

I am a dyed in the wool metal head, but I gre up listening to The Eagles alot, and to this day still love them. Hotel California has to be one of the best songs ever written IMO, so this vote is very hard for me!

I can't choose. There's been too much good music from all eras... There is a load of brilliant new music that constantly comes out, most of it just doesn't go to radio (which I consider a blessing anyway).

I'm leaning towards the '90s, and by that I don't mean the pop rubbish! Pearl Jam, Smashing Pumpkins, Aphex Twin, Air, Radiohead, Portishead, etc.

well the 70s and 80s were awesome for all the classic metal bands but the talent in the current underground aussie metal scene is phenomenal, people just don't pay attention to the local scene unfortunately, everyone judges current music by whats in the charts.
