Default economy switch

this may be a stupid question but ive wondered for a long time and i know it makes it more "economic" on fuel but what does it actually change

Yeah as naughtyfalcon said, it only effects the shift points in the trans.

when u say shift points. u mean at which rpm the change takes place?
is there any way to mod the POWER mode so its even higher RPM before a change?

economy = less rpm gear change and it thinks about kicking down if it feels like it
power = higher rpm gear change holds gear better, and kicks down when asked

simple answer no. You could buy a trans controller thats programmable but personally the cost is bit much for what it will do.

If you get hold of a GHIA trans computer you will get better shifts.

You can wire in a 'shift kit', available on ebay, or make your own. Do a search on here or look on fordmods.com

The power mode lets the engine rev 3000 rpm more before gear change at half throttle. Ive tested it at different speeds.

if you want economy don't take it over 1500-2000rpm and do it gently you practically are tickling the throttle if you want to save juice....lol

you want it to change later in normal mode? mine changes at 5500rpm in normal. i dont really think you'd need to rev it that much to get power out of it
