In todays Melbourne Sun, there is a 40 page liftout to promote the Melbourne Motor Show and here is a list of Vehicle Manufacturers with advertisements or articles that 500,000+ people will read (daily circulation),
Holden, Toyota, Nissan, Subaru, Peugeot, Toyota TRD, Citroen, Renault, Suzuki, Mazda, Lamborghini, Hyundai, Honda, Audi, Volkswagen, Caparo, Proton, Jeep, Mitsubishi, BMW & Mercedes - NO FORD : Is there anybody left in ford marketing or is the motor show advertising budget being spent glamming the stand .... time will tell |

Ford marketing are busy, ok? Give them a bloody break!
They have to get to work, sit at work, try to think of an idea, have morning tea, try to think of an idea, have lunch, try to think of an idea, then go home. Phew, productive day's work. Yeah...I'm also not happy with the work Ford does with advertising. Not only in absence, but the commercials are weak. Bugger! |

What's up with that? Pretty stupid given recent Falcon sales numbers. Someone's ars3 needs kicking over that. The new Lancer EVO looks good (for a rice mobile, that is!). |

what is going on with Fords marketing? its below average across the board. They could improve their public image a whole bunch with good advertising, not to mention sales

I dunno - I'll go out on a limb here and maybe stick up for them a bit.
Is it possible their line of thinking was is it the best return for $ spent?? I mean - no-one is going to buy a car off that particular advert promoting the motor show are they. True they may attend the motor show knowing that Ford are present and maybe will buy one then - so possibly it did hurt them. Just trying to play devils advocate and suggest that times are tough at Ford - large marketing spends may be a thing of the past for them. They may be looking much closer at how and where they spend their marketing money now. I also heard (via this forum) that someone got blue toothed a Ford advert to their mobile at/after attending the show? Something like that? Perhaps they spent their $$ on that rather than a press advert? IMO the blue tooth thing is miles ahead of their competitors mediums. Im sure im gonna get bashed but meh....... |

How much would it have cost Ford to be a naming rights sponser of cricket? Just another example of Ford's poor marketing. |

On one hand they get nabbed for no marketing - then when they are spending money its still not good enough is it? Think of the exposure (we are talking global too) they obtain from naming right sponsor of the cricket. We arent privvy to the details of the deal - who knows - mightnt have cost them as much as you think. Point is - you think its a poor example - the next bloke who's a die hard cricket fan will only buy Ford now coz he appreciates Ford's sponsorship of the cricket. Cant please everyone. |

It's not quite that simple XA Coupsta ... a major part of marketing is about brand reinforcement, which in part, means having your name in everyone's face whenever possible. The Brisbane Motor Show had a similar low profile problem with limited models on show. |

It doesn’t take a lot of cash to put some ads up promoting genuine quality new product like the mondeo, It’s simply the Ford ignorance showing through again . As for FPV, well if they still had anybody there who knew anything about the products I’m sure we would have seen a feature on the 50th anniversary GT? Perhaps the Herald Sun insert (the official motor show magazine BTW) didn’t consider a couple of stripes and a few suspension tweaks worthy of notice. I surely don’t either. The GT is the ONLY icon product that Ford has in this country and when an anniversary such as 40 comes around I would think it worthy of more than a splash of colour and some trick shocks. Call it saving money if you wish, but the money used to ‘payout’ just one of the FPV senior executives would have bought the centre spread! Marketing does not always transcend through to actual product sales directly, but it does maintain your relevance in the market and if done well will excite the curiosity of the potential consumer. And why would you use Ranger to sponsor One day Cricket in this country. Falcon or Terry maybe, but a re-badged Mazda made from Thai parts assembled in South Africa is not in my mind the ideal product to be sponsoring one day cricket in Australia.
