Default Indicator problem

We are experiencing problems with the indicators on our AU11 2000 Fairmont,
It seems they don't want to work when the engine is cold eg, first thing in the morning even when the car has been in a garage over night. We indicate right for example and the indicator light comes on and stays on! and wont intermit on and off. Other times they run fast then slow (in the same 30 secs).
At other times they work normal.
We thought that maybe moisture had gotten inside the relay box or something, not sure really, does anyone have any clues for us?

that could be part of the problem, just thinking about it though and im not sure if newer cars have a flasher can as such, i think they just use the flasher relay now. i know older cars had a flasher can. it makes the indicators flash on and off and is usually located under the dash on the drivers side.

Thanks for that, we just noticed that when we push slightly on the flasher relay while the indicator is on the indicators start flashing when we let go it stops flashing. We'll try a knew relay switch and see what happens.
