Taiyo Yuden discs rock, but are pricey ($35 for 50). I use Ritek discs ($20 for 50). Work great at any speed.

TDK are meant to be OK if you want to pay a little less, but Taiyo Yuden are the benchmark and Verbatim would be very good. The Riteks are known to have dropped in quality since the 4x discs as they changed supplier to a lesser brand when they switched to 8x and higher discs.
I get these: http://www.jpldisplays.com.au/catalo...roducts_id=221 at $57/100 DVDs MSY computers now has them for $57 too Considering how much you store on a DVD (that you could lose) and their cost of up to 57 cents each, why skimp on quality? I remember buying 74 min CD-Rs for $2.50 each and $4 for 80 min CDs - and $700 for the CD burner

Ritek's for me or verbatim its deeper the purple the better, not who has their name on it
xr6007 most of the time ebay is best for those unknown brands (which happen to be some of the best) or a computer shop as far as brands go most like sony, LG, whoever use repackaged mitsubishi electric or some no name brand from china that has nothing to do with quality, quality is in the purple colour of the disk, deeper and darker the better but also look out for slow disks or ones rated above their max otherwise if its movies, music, photos and data that has no monetary value then TDK and verbatim are cheap and prob best value for money with quality in mind, if its quality as in home theatre for your $7000 system and quality does make a difference Riteks work 100% everytime and quality is 2nd to none

Just don't use Princo printable dvds, or any printable dvds for that matter nothing but trouble.
On this subject has anyone tried the new dvd burners with the light scribe built in, apparently it etches a label in the top while it burns the dvd. |

Have had the best run with TDK myself. It pays to read reviews on blanks as well, where proper testing technique is used and a decent set of metrics is provided.

I always use them with "1 Click DVD Copy 5.0" and "AnyDVD" software, 1 Click is simply the best DVD copying software available and AnyDVD is the only software I have used that "successfully" removes the copyright protection on any DVD out there. The copies I get using this software and the Verbatim DVD+R disks are absolutely perfect. Just for the record the burner I am using is a LiteOn SMH-165P6S |
