Default Thoughts of clear tail lights....

What are people's thoughts of clear tail lights on falcons??

A lot of my mates see it as Jap car only territory but I've seen quite a few

AU's getting around with them & wondered what the

EA/B/D shape would look like with a set on. Anyone know if they're even

available?

Never seen them for EA/B/D and have looked for interests sake, don't think they have been made, and chrome ones only looks ok on white and silver, and black ones on black or dark blue cars, otherwise they look plain awful in 99% of cases.

i've never heard or seen them available for any eseries
some custom ones have been made for an EB which were only 1/2 clear (clear indicators, tail lights were still red) and also MRE40L on fordmods made some altezza style ones for an EF/EL

comes down to personal taste/colour of car etc

I don't mind them on AU's, but i'm not really a fan. I don't think theyd look that great at all on an E series. Like VR/VS look absolutely awful with them but VT's look alright, so i guess i'd have to see some on an EB/EB to judge it...

I think that tinted tail lights suit the EA/B/D shape better, plus they also

match the number plate surround panel where as clear lights would make it

look odd. I suppose you could colour code the back panel but I've seen it

done & IMHO it looks tragic.

I reckon they look pimp. I've been considering what you would have to do to make a one-off set yourself. Probably butcher another car's altezza lights and some work with a plastic chromer. If you could make it all fit inside a standard profile EB/ED assembly it would be an interesting look.

Agree that they would look odd with the number plate surround, but I'd like to replace that with a carbon-fibre panel too.

I actually think the VR/VS clear lights look ok. The only bad part is the reverse light which is on the boot. The brake/indicator lense looks really good, like a Mazda RX8.

This is kinda funny, was talking to JOHN_XR6 about this the other day.
I was thinking it may look nice, and came up with a thought....
TYC Tailights fade after time and were thinking of if we could somehow speed up the fading process on the Orange bits with a UV light it would give clear tailights?

i was thinkin if they had any around when i first got the clear indicators for the front, but envisaged a ba-style look. i whipped this up in ps quickly, and it looks 'interesting' (theres a nice non-comitting opinion from me :P) the colour levels may not be correct but it gives a general idea

used john_xr6's beautiful example of a fairmont for the ps:

i stand by my original comment of it being 'interesting'. does anyone think there is potential in it?

Yeah I'm undecided, it looks alright, I spose. Depends on the colour of the car really.

yeah, i just realised how crappy the rear of my car looks, lol. *activate 'in-search-of-fairmont-garnish' mode*. it would probably need to continue along the entire bottom half of the rear like in the pic i did of yours instead of just on each side like in mine. but damn, that grey in mine looks dodgy as now. as psycho said, it's one of things that would ultimately depend on the colour of the car

It wouldn't look that good on white as you can see, but try it on a different coloured GLi like OneredED's car or something. I reckon it'd look 50 times better.

John's car looks absolutely horn with the lights like that! I'd seriously buy them if there was something like that, been thinking about it for a while. InitialD I actually thought of the samething lol! Speeding up the fading process somehow haha.

thinking bout it the center section would be easy as the colour is taken from the orange tape shit thats on the bootlid yeah? like its not actually orange on the garnish itself, you'd just need to do the tail lights, and perhaps put some chrome tape on the bootlid under the garnish
