boot button doesnt work with the iggnition off. the only way would be a coat hanger in the door or smash the quarter glass

can i ask how u got them locked there? did u have the car locked and then shut the boot?

I know RACV got the keys out of Cranners boot, I wonder how? It might be cheaper for you to call them out then for you to break a window..

The racv bloke unlocked the main doors in my car, then i was able to get the spair key out of the glove box to unlock the boot, but the easiest way to do it would be to unlock the car, then climb into the boot through the back seats...

I locked mine in the boot infront of a whole car cruise :-)

Good Luck with getting them out mate

If it makes you feel any better, I did this with my EL once - my cousin and I went to his local bottle-o on the way to a party. We loaded up with booze, came out to my car, popped the boot and loaded all the grog into the boot. I slam the boot shut then feel around for my keys and then that 'oh ****...' feeling struck when I realised they'd fallen out of my shirt pocket into a plastic bag which had gone into the boot. So there I was locked out of my car, due at a party in 1/2 an hour and about 25 km from home. Quick emergency call to my cousin's sister, went home grabbed his EB wagon, drove briskly home to my house, grabbed my spare set and came back. We were only about 1 1/2 hours late to the party in the end!

During the drama we also called an ex-RACQ mate of my cousin and he told us pretty much there was no easy, non-destructive way of opening the boot without any major tools.

No, it won't - there is a timer attached to the boot lock power circuit and will only allow you to open the boot using the button on the dash for a short period of time before it shuts power off to it.

Had the same thing happen when on holidays with a Ford Escort (thanks to a mate). The NRMA wouldn't break the lock to get in. I had to have a spare key sent up from home to where i was holidaying.

I'm not sure if he necessarily needs to, there were a lot of little things that changed between EF/ELs, maybe that was one of them?

The people who are saying the boot release doesnt work in EFs own Fairmonts, the ones that are saying it has worked own GLis. I think thats the cause....

I think the lesson here is to keep your spare car keys in your house.

My GLi boot won't open unless my key's on accessories...fuel release anytime without ignition keys...but boot no.
