Default idiot on the news

did anyone see the w$#ker booked for speeding on the news tonight in sydney.
he got weekend detention for being clocked at 202km/h on the great western highway in an evo 9 at 630pm on saturday night last week, his excuse " i was testing the car".
its w@#kers like him that ruin it for the people who own and drive modified cars.
if you want to test your car go to a track day or wedensday night drags, there's 3 tracks in west sydney alone.

and the punishment, weekend detention, what is that? wonder what he would've got if he killed some a slap on the wrist!!! :togo:

surely thats not right???? i got booked for wayyyy less than that and copped one month and my mate was booked for 40 over and copped a full year suspension. going over 30 or 40km/h (cant remember which) is dangerous driving and not just a vicroads or RTA issue it becomes a police infringement (ie negligent driving etc) as well doesnt it???

Thats rubbish 200km/h on a public road is insane and not even vaguely funny!!!

It's pretty hard to drive at 200km/h when you're a quadraplegic.

Ok, mabey not that far, but for such a serious offence the punishment should be a little closer to a neck snap than weekend detention.

Well it seems that the Evo drivers are starting to get develop a stereotype just like the WRX and Commodore owners have.

I have started to see more Evos drivers lately not exactly demonstrating what can be characterized as safe driving. Not good for a car which is fairly uncommon.

He was driving an EVO atleast, not some clapped out VK or XF.
An Evo at that speed would still be safer than those aformentioned cars at 110kmh

[sarcasm]
Maybe he got off light because he was telling the truth. He was testing the car. Maybe I should tell the coppers next time that I'm also testing the car and investigating the effects of a car losing traction in the rear wheels when I get caught drifting on public roads
[/sarcasm]

PS. I dont speed and I dont drift... but you get my point... or lack there of.

so you're telling me an evo hitting my car at 200kmph is safer than a vk or xf at 200. no one is above the law, let alone the laws of physics.

They will continue to be made, because there are idiots who continue to drive like morons, despite all the advertising and education out there.

If you can't adhere to the simple, "Speed Kills" slogan, then get off the road, jump in a cannon and shoot yourself at a solid brick wall. Same effect with only the irresponsible dying, and not an innocent family or individual.

Doesn't get any simpler than that.

Our system sucks.

That guys an idiot.

If you want to speed make sure its safe to do so: Plenty of straight road, good lighting, NO other road users around, and in the early hours of the morning - not at 6:30pm...

Im not saying hitting, but an EVO will certainly be more able to avoid anything at that speed, than an XF or VK, or just about 99% of cars on the road for that matter.

How is it that you guys believe what the government is telling you? Just look at just about every other country in the world. We have the lowest speed limit of any. 200 is not dangerous on a deserted highway. I have done it safely hundreds of times. (mainly overseas) It just must be done safely.

He was a Mitsubishi representative so I highly doubt they would give the keys to an Evo 9 to a P plater.

I agree, it's hard enough driving 80km/h on the great western with numbskulls chopping and changing lanes, not to mention how many side streets there are! 200 plus is a Kamakaze(sp) mission, no matter what the car.

Well... if no one elses life is in danger but your own whats wrong with that?

Of course you wouldn't do 200kph on every deserted road - only safe areas with no intersections such as the freeway at 2.00am.
