Default Progress Update on the EB (not 56k friendly)

well I've had my wagon for just over a month now, its had a bit done to it since i got it i thought i'd just let you all know what ive been upto

First of all i chucked in a roof mount tv screen, with the DVD player in the back in a custom made box (still needs to be carpeted)

Still havnt got my self a power inverter, so i cant put my Xbox in yet :(

Ive put one of those cheep pioneer decks up front (sorry bad pic but you get the idea)

Ive had to change the head gasket in it because it was leaking oil so for the last 2-3 weeks ive had the engine out working on that, i thought while it was out i might aswell paint the engine bay matt black so i dont have to play with it when im doing a respray

yesterday i picked up dans (dansedgli) AIT bonnet and grill, im not sure what im going to do with the bonnet yet, wether ill put it on or not, ill see how it looks on the car when ive made my kit for it, im also repairing the grill i had on my 1st ea (was damaged when someone backed into the EA) to see how that will flow with the look of the car, here are a few pics comparing them all for now (i know the ait one isnt the best colour match, i just used $2 australian export red paint on it:P)

standard EB

my old ea's grill(karls (NZ) original one)

and the AIT one

and a comparo between them all

I dont know which one i like best yet ill have to decide when the kit/respray is done

here are a few pics of my cars together (sorry the commodore is dirty (ive lost intrest in the commodore since i got the EB)) and i know i shouldnt be posting pisc of a commodore but MEH :

Thanks for looking!

i think the AIT is the better of the 2 different front grills. you have certainly been busy...

The engine was the most time consuming, but i needed to get it running right before i started modding it:P

I'd go the AIT grille as well. Needs clear indicators and a C-pillar cover. Other than that, looking good

Haha im hoping i will resist the urge to buy anymore:P, Fantz EL is looking really good to me right now:P but my dad would kill me if i got another:(

I always liked the e-series wagons and ever since my ED went ive always wanted to get back into a wagon again.

Yeah i need to get myself a d-pillar cover, I remember when I got my ed it was missing a d-pillar cover and was damn hard to find, anyway it doesnt really bother me its missing on my wagon for now.

Clearies all round are on the mods list

and i like the AIT grille aswell but ill paint them all up and the AIT hood and do a bit of a mix and match to see what combo looks best after i respray the wagon

BTW: colour im thinking of doing the wagon is SVO silver on the bottom, with shockwave blue or a similar colour along the top,(engine and inside door jambs will be matt black - interior plastics will be black so i think it will blend in) - what do you all think of that?

Sounds good. Not too sure of the matt black. Personally I'd do them shockwave as well.

Original grille looks the best in all honesty.

Car's looking clean but i can't say I'm a fan of the engine bay either, maybe some better pics would do it a bit more justice.

Definately paint the engine bay and door jams in the same colour as the outside. If you dont it looks cheap and nasty.

The engine bay would look heaps better with some red highlight like rocker cover etc. Looks pretty neat though.

I did the engine bay black because i CBF cleaning it all the time, the rocker and a few other things will be painted, just deciding wether in want to put an au engine in or just keep this one at the moment

I remember i saw a car on Pimp my ride *hides* that had blue paint and had the door jambs black and it actually looked pretty good, and i thought since the theme of the interior will be black/dk grey i thought black jambs will suit it well, so i dont know - i guess i'll see how i feel when i get to the painting stage

Didn't Douglas' old EA have a black engine bay? That looked nice because it wasn't a matt finish.

the original ford grille is the best, the other two are hideous, especially the chrome one, the ait one looks like a commodore grille.

Which one is chrome?

What kind of commodore has a similar grill to the AIT one?

The AIT one does look a little like a vr-vx stretched out grill area (cause vr-vx had grills moulded into the bumper) -but still not similar enough to be running around saying its a commodore

BardensEBxr6: get your eyes checked, i cant see no chrome grill?

If you mean this photo

the bottom grill has just been sanded because it is being repaired, there is no chrome on it
