Default Looking to swap headlights with someone...

Gday guys,

im looking to swap a set of AU headlights with someone...

these are the current headlights on my car:

and i am looking for a set like the ones on Mattp's car:

ie: Headlights with Chrome Bezel's and a clear indicator lens, not the orange indicator lens like on my headlights..

the headlights must be in VERY good condition, with NO fogging, chips/scratches or anything like that.

Sydney area is preferable, as i do do a fair bit of night driving, so i do need headlights at all time.

i might be interested in buying a set if the price is right. but a swap is preferable.

thanks guys
-Henri

Get a set like Jonbays has. They look not too bad, IMO, and are really cheap now.

That second car looks hot! :
I'm not 100% on the details, but I'm pretty sure the AUI's (like mine) had a different headlight to the AUII/III's. Something to do with the wiring being part of the headlight unit or not. ? I'm pretty sure you can use adaptors or something, but for sake of ease you'd be best getting hold of some AUIII Fairmont headlights. Like I said, I'm not sure, so perhaps someone older and wiser could jump in here... I read it somewhere on the site but I just did a quick search and came up with nothing. I may be entirely wrong. ?

Correct, the AU1 headlight has its loom attached to the headlight, the AU2-3 has a seperate loom off the headlight, it's an easy conversion though, it just means you have to "cut" the parklight wires & re-join them thats about all. :voldar02:

You can cut them where they go into the main loom (@3" from case), you "should" solder/heatshrink them, but just use male/female connectors & tape them to prevent moisture entry. Don't stress, it's an easy job really. _2:

They do look better clear, My AU2 Fairmont came with 1 of each, I ended up getting the orange one opened and changed. Don't know if anyone up there can do that for you?

I like my white now (but I still don't mind yellow against the Monsoon)

I reckon swap, I have thought about lights for a while and I'm lucky to have had this combo when I got the car.
I reckon they look good for Monsoon Blue.

AUII forte's have the same headlights as mattp's AUI. Grab a set like that. Or even series 3, they were like a grey coloured bezel rather than chrome. (see LG's car)

mm, my AUII Forte has the clear blinkers. got clear rear blinkers too, now all i need is the clear side repeaters.

the AU3s had a slighty greyer/silverer tinge to the headlight encasing. very subtle change with that and the stocko AUIs/AUIIs.

Henri ... are you interest in the projectors????
I think it's time to get rid of my ute ... so I will be stripping the good bits out of it before it goes ... so headlights will be swapped back with my originals (lucky i kept them) ... and other stuff will come out as well.

Comes with H4-H1 jump loom as well.

The thing is it has the black surrounds.

its possible to disconnect the park light wiring out of the park light socket using a small blade to press in the detent on the contacts....so you dont actually have to cut/rejoin the wires

thats what i do and its very easy to do

As far as i can tell

Series 1
Forte - Grey painted
Futura - Chrome
Fairmont - Chrome
Fairmont Ghia - Chrome with orange indicator lens

Series 2
Forte - Grey painted or chrome....whatever ford felt like fitting it seems
Futura - Chrome
Fairmont - Chrome with orange indicator lens
Fairmont Ghia - Chrome

Series 3
Forte -Dark grey unless it had options(SR etc) where it had chrome.
Futura - Chrome
Fairmont and Ghia - Chrome

Yep, series 1 Fairmont.

There were no orange indicator lenses in the headlights in series 1, only series 2.

I don't know why Ford do this. They have something that looks really good on one model, and then they change it for something that doesn't look as good on the next model. No reason other than change for change's sake.

Same thing happened with EF/EL tail lights.

Those series I lights look much better than the series II ones.
