Default Ford Ranger

Hi All,
We have the Ford Ranger Cup, but can anyone actually purchase a Ford Ranger yet? I checked out a couple of dealers and couldnt really see one to analyse!
Cheers
Marty

Yes that’s rite, I think there may be a few minor changers between the 2 but basically it’s the same car with a name change.

I think they should Import the Explorer Spot Trac> Basically a Explorer that has been made into a duel cab Ute< If they de-Americanised the Suspension I.E soft as ****** and too low and beefed it up for us Australians I.E Firmer ride and lifted it 2-inch they would make up some ground in the Duel cab Ute game. The Spot Trac kills the Hilux and Navara in Looks Pro-Formance and comfort and Would Chit all over the crewman and with some more ride Height would seriously be able to compete against the Jap’s in the Duel cab 4WD market.

Cheers

Official launch is at 4x4 and Camping show Melb Exhibiton centre simultaneously with Sydney Aust. Motor Show October 26, 27, 28 etc. according to Friday's Carsguide.
Dual cab Tezza would be nice.

What for, it’s basically a Crewman.

If your going to try and bust into the duel cab Ute market you need to do it with something with Off-road ability so as too make up some ground against Toyota and Nissan.

Keep the territory Ute, I will take one of these IMO much better option for a Duel Cab 4WD Ute.

That Explorer doesnt look very stock, im sure with enough money you could build a Territory to do the same.

Pfft Territory Dual cab would sell much better then any of the others around, especially if it was a FBT free like the others are and 100% tax deductable with no log book requirements.

Cheers,

That Explorer doesn’t look very stock> No it isn’t, Probably $2500-$3000 worth of suspension and 33-inch tyres.

I am sure with enough money you could build a Territory to do the same.> Unlikely, it’s called a solid rear axle, Duel range transfer case and a IFS system with some articulation 3 thing the Territory is missing.

jesus no more exploders please we are realy sick of them and transits at work easy the biggest pos ever> hummm.. Really,so that’s your opinion of the best selling 4WD on the planet then, Mines got 152,000k on it and has never let me down, The biggest problem in Australia is nobody has a idea about them, including Ford.

ifs on 4x4s=geay, So what does that make the Territory with IRS and IFS LOL

I Agree there nothing like a solid axle up front too, the only option for that these day’s thou is a base module Landcruiser Wagon or the 78/79 series.
Nissan Patrol’s (But not for much longer)
Land Rover defenders
And one or 2 Jeep Modules I think.

All the rest is IFS up front
Or IFS and IRS which = ********* useless is anything remotely challenging.

The landcruiser IFS is Know for not being up to the job and needs a Aftermarket reinforcement plate welded to the lower control arm’s to stop it cracking in Heavy Off road use at which point Toyota Voids your warranty.

AWD or 2 wheel drive once it lifts a tyre LOL

The media seem to throe them into the same heap when they have their monthly 4WD-bashing story.

Buy the looks of some of the Ford Ads they make it look like a real 4WD, which some bloke found out It wasn’t after he followed me down along a beach and almost got stuck in the soft sand. I just gave it some rite boot in High range and powered throe at road pressure, he had to bail out and head for the hard sand at the water line Risky if you don't know the beach!!!.

That’s the difference; Clearance, Centre Diff lock, Tyre size and when things get a little boggy you have that back up gear called Low Range to help you out.

Just went looking, and came across the Ranger Brochure from the UK.

UK Ford Ranger Brochure {PDF Link}

Looks pretty good...... even its more an evolution of the current design, as opposed to a clean sheet design like the new TRiton, Hilux & Navara!
