Default cam timing & spark timing combo...

hey all..

ive been playing around with timing lately, cam timing by adjusting the vernier gear on cam and spark timing by adjusting the dizzy.. for those of you who dont know..

now generally speaking, advancing timing shifts you power curve down through the rev range..

today i arrived at a setting which seems quite nice to me, in which i advanced cam timing a bit and retarded spark....

gives me much more midrange power than before but runs out of steam a touch earlier..

what experiences have other people had?

my experience is that coilpacks suck. I want to retard my cam timing but i'm not sure what effect that will have on ignition timing. Ohhh well, my unichip arrived today.

um....what is the actual timing setting? By increasing timing you should see an increase in power and economy the whole way through the rev range, up until the point that the timing is too far advanced and the engine starts to ping.

I couldn't feel any difference in power when playing with cam timing, I had to do that on a dyno, and it basicly shifted about 6hp from low/midrange to midrange/high revs...

I ended up with 2 degrees retarded cam (resulting in the most peak power) and about 18 degrees base timing, up from the stock 10.
