Default Mutliple fatality near Donald in the Wimmera

Eeeeek!! Just read about this. At least 5 dead in a van/car head-on. Mostly incinerated. Rescuers not even sure if there may be more than five bodies due to intensity of the fire. Gawd... a black week on Vic roads.

6 people have died. Car and a transit van carrying a trailer. The police said its such a mess, they cant tell who was heading in which direction.

VIC's not my area, but what are the open roads like??

The applicable general limit?

"Today's accident continues a horror stretch on Victorian roads, with the death toll now 34 in the last 18 days".

Country roads, like the one out of Donald aren't the best, but they aren't the worst either. They are actually better that Calder Parks return road. From what the local reports were saying it may not have been road conditions that caused this. The only conclusion they have been able to come to so far is that the sedan (carrying the family) was hit from the right. Investigators arrived at the scene just before 6. The fire was caused by an exploding LPG tank.

But it is a terrible loss for all the families concerned, and what more 3 precious young lives tragically cut short.

Just a few weeks ago Brax was announcing how well he was doing with the road toll and his road safety policies.

What he doesnt tell you is that the road toll maybe down 5%, but the number of km travellled by the population is also down a heck of a lot because of the petrol prices. Now suprise suprise, the petrol prices come back down and the fatalities go straight back up. Its really not rocket science.....

Also the fire WAS NOT caused by an exploding LPG tank, but by a petrol tank that went everywhere.

I'm glad you clarified that, as regardless of LPG savings I'm a bit paranoid about harbouring a bomb in my boot.

It actually appears now that the fire was caused by go-kart fuel, the Transit van was towing a go-kart and all the equipment that goes with it. Death toll is now 7. 5 in the car and 2 in the van.
