Default Bang!

hmmmm im getting this large banging noise sometimes when i rev it up(only to 3500 to 4500) and drop the clutch...it doesnt happen all the time but sometimes. It sounds like a large rock being flicked up into the undercarraige of the car coming from the rear wheels..wat could this be??????

Have you checked your engine & gearbox mounts?
This might be causing the exhaust to hit the body or rear suspension.

Dropping the clutch while at 3500rpm or over i'de expect a bang from most cars anyway ..lol , most cars can't handle having the clutch dumped to many times like that without creating major slack in the diff, uni joints and everywhere else ! , which is probably creating the bang from doing it to many times in the past ..lol

But hey, as said above , everyone loves a good burnout !.. hehehe, cheers .

Seriously though...

I know the exact noise your getting. I get it when cornering hard in my car (auto). I have checked all my ball joints, etc, etc, and have even had new suspension put in since, and it still does it. I think it may be a mount that just moves a bit and hits the chassis.

First time it happened to me, I thought I flicked up a huge rock or stick...

Could it be tailshaft hitting the floor, when dropping the clutch the *** end drops down, if your suspension is old it could be that hitting, have read on here before about that happening to people.

My AU doesnt do it, but its an auto, but my old EA use to do it occassionally, when really up it i would get a really loud bang/crack sound comming from about the middle of the car.

if the noise is coming from the front, it could be a broken engine mount, and the motor could be hitting the bonnet when launching... wouldnt be the first time i've seen that happen :
