Default Peter Brock in a Ford?

It may just be me but did anyone else find it odd/ unfitting to see Peter Brock in a Ford hearse?

Surely they could have found a holden. I know that it may not be that important but it just looked wrong to me.

I reckon they should have got the last V8 supercar he won bathurst in and loaded him into that, and used it as a hearse...Its what I would have wanted if I was him!

That would be the VL SS Group A, in 1987.

I havent seen any pictures, but if it is an ordinary Ford hearse i dont see how it is disrespectful...

Would people think he was a traitor if they saw im in a Ford taxi at some point during his life? Why is there an emphasis on the vehicle? His contribution to motorsport and Holden will be greatly emphasised in the funeral and in tributes.

Cant we just let him rest without commenting on every single little thing?

Yes. It's a freaking hearse. Who cares? I know for a fact Brocky doesn't. There aren't that many Torana hearses out there anyway.

It was just an observation. Mr Brock's passing is a great shock and loss.

Considering that this thread is regarded in poor taste (it was not intended in that way) could a Modorator please remove it.

thank you

Its not in bad taste its just a observation about someone that is a important person to most .

I would hope that he gets a good send off as he should and also hope that its in a holden (I like to think he is Holden)Sad day indeed

If I got taken to the cemetary or wherever in a holden hearse I would be PI55ED! I would fully haunt the person who booked the hearse from that moment until they died. Its not just a hearse, its the princliple of the thing!

FFS it’s a hearse. What’s disrespectful about that. If it was a beaten up XD ute you’d have a point. I don’t think his family would give a damn. It wasn’t that long ago when he actually drove a Ford around Bathurst, or doesn’t anyone here remember that. At the end of the day the coffin has to be transported from point A to point b. Simple as that.

(I shudder at saying this because i think it is disrespectful to continue talking about such trivial nonsense. However, there are some things i think some people need to consider)

What is the principle? Did he ever come out and say 'I HATE FORDS, I WOULDNT BE SEEN DEAD IN ONE!'

I dont particularly want to be carried in a Holden at any point in my life, but a Hearse is a whole other ball game. If it were a mercedes/toyota/kia hearse would anyone comment on it?

For his funeral i would expect they will have special transportation honouring the special man, but for mere transport it would be like any other time, you get what is available. Think about it, when you call a cab do you get to specify what make the car is? No. When you get married (another special event) do you get to choose the car? Yes.

Its a funeral vehicle. For the most part, they are Ford's.

I dont believe the thought on anyones mind was "Geez, Ford for his Funeral, no that wont do.....".

Very true, And i haven't seen a holden Hurst before.

Off topic a touch, When race drivers are signed to a single brand they really have to keep up the image and respect it. Say lie what type of look was it when Shane Warne was going on about them patches but was caught smoking? Was a huge thing.
Britney spears isn't she or was she sponsored by one of the Soft drink company's but she was caught drinking the other soft drink the big rival?
AFL Footballers say Barry Hall is sponsored by Nike, But was seen and photographed wherein Adidas runner big trouble. It's big business more then people think, Some TV stations wont allow contracted footballer they have onto other network station no matter what.

The first think I noticed was that Brock was in a Ford hearse and thought it wouldn't make the Holden boys happy. But, Brock wasn't against Ford, he did race them! and I don't know of any Holden hearses, and his family have more to worry about than the brand of car.

Why disrespectful? He raced Ford Sierras for two years and built a small number of modified Falcons in the late 1980s. Get real people!

Brocky drove a ford too don't forget (Sierra Cosworth). They even brought the EA falcon out in a Brock edition. So I don't think it matters too much about what type of hearse he was in.

Anyone whinging should get over it. I think its ironic though, only from the fact the holden fans don't like it and he refused a ride from the airport in a FORD LTD because it wasn't appropriate.
