Excuse me, but what is the point of this thread? Is it to flame young people, or do you actually have a huge problem with grammar and spelling. Like zetec love was trying to demonstrate, the symantics of a word dont need to be completely spot on for you to understand it.

The lack of willingness or lack of ability of young people these days to attempt to properly master the English language is alarming. I hate talking to my peers on MSN, simply because 95% of them type drivel that's not intelligable. And some of them don't even know how to spell properly, nor do they understand proper grammar...

sure we are young, who cares what we write, we just make stuff up pretty much all the time haha. our writing style reflects the actual depth involved with what we are trying to communicate.

People writing in SMS has no impact on me because I simply do not read it. As long as they don't complain that nobody answers their questions or considers their opinions, I couldn't care less.

I don't have a huge problem with grammar and spelling, but some people on this forum appear to. English was my worst subject when I was at school, but I usually make an effort to proof read and spell check my posts prior to pushing the 'Submit Reply' button. I believe that it is common courtesy to try and make our posts legible.

In all honesty, if a person can't be legible on a computer then they must be quite backward...Regardless of the spelling the text is still legible.

Heres a thought......to the people who can't be bothered to read a quick sms type post...think about the posts people put up

I woke up this morning with a rather bad headache, and i was quite convinced that the amount of alcahol i consumed last night was indeedly greater than the recommended serving suggestion.

Does this prove intelligence? Obviously this isn't a direct quote but the sort of thing that tends to happen.....

when all i really needed to say was...."I got wasted last night.....Now i feel Crook"

I'm with you on this. I live with a proof reader AKA the wife. As you can guess at times it can be hell. But one thing i do know is that my text messages take twice as long as most because i spell it all out. I think is just plain ignorance on the user's behalf. Look I'm old get piissed off easy these's day and this just add to the medication, so for the sake of all us oldie's on here it's hard enough at time's remembering to do you fly up, don't make me try and disipher you dribble as well. If it isnt legible its a prime candidate for deletion IMHO

What annoys me is, especially when new people post, you dont want to make them feel unwelcome (is that caring too much?) and have to take 1/2 hr to read their posts and respond to them...but God help you if you comment on their posting 'style'......

Some seem to think its quite clever and 'homie' to post like that...back to streetcommodores ya go

Doesn't take much to proof read! I was not the best at english either, but I can spell!
Just cut your post into Word, spell check it, then cut it back into the reply box.

Is it really that hard to type a few more letters, so others can understand, not just a select few???
You were able to type your username and password in full, and the website address to gain access, why not complete your posts as well!

Flame away....

If you see a user that has a continued spelling and grammar problem why not help them out.
You could suggest typing there post in M/S word 1st, then pasting it into the reply box.
Firefox has a google bar that has a spell checker as does IE a add on program that can be installed and run as a part of IE.
