Hello again people. It's become apparent after I've fitted the cam to my AU1 xr8 that I need to re-calibrate the ecu. It's behaving better than after I installed it but it still has a hiccup now and then like it wants more fuel.
So, what do I do? I would like to re-map the fuel and ignition curve, but what tuner /ecu do I get. Some like the motec seem too complex for my needs. Would I be better off getting a snapon scanner that can re-map fuel curves and I can use on other cars as well? What is the go?! : |

Do a search on this... has come up too many times...
Your best bet is use the factory computer, but get an edit (re-flashing the current ECU with a heavily tweaked/tuned fuel map). This can be done at variou places... G&D would be first recommended or CAPA if they are in sydney... closer to Young....

Yep, Flash Tuner, tuned by Chris from Bluepower would be the way to go.

If your in brisbane i highly recommend you give Steve at Redcliffe Dyno a call. I just had one of there systems installed to sort out the fuel and timing issues that popped up since changing heads. To sum up: B4 heads 228 rwhp, After heads 237 rwhp, After RDP ECU 253.9 rwhp. Sorted out light and WOT mixtures and timing and the car feels 100% happier through a hard run, not bogged down. Not sure if the system can do this but the lock up in the auto comes in at a better time, firmer maybe? Maybe the just tinkered a bit... ;)

AFAIK Spiro at Autotech in Granville/Sydney does the CAPA Flash Tuner.
It just depends which is the closer place to you to get this done.

Sounds like a custom edited flash tuner is the way to go , but is this different to the $995 capa tuner that I could do myself. A dyno flash tune might be better. How much does a dyno flash tune usually cost?

Is the CAPA flash tuner adjustable? Does it hook up with the pc so I can muck about with it or is it a pre-set thing that you load into your car's pcm and that's it?
