Exclamation Problems with VE production?

A work colleague of mine informed me that Holden stopped production of the VE model this morning and were going to start building VZ wagons and utes. This is surprising news as VE production started last Thursday and they are supposed to be ramping up to 600 cars a day to fill all the dealer orders. Holden were not planning to build any more VZ models this month so that they could concentrate on the VE.

Anybody heard anything similar?

Yes it could be true all because off a company in Bendigo going under and going into receivership, the company is refussing to payout the employees and they are blockadding the exit's/entries, this is caussing all motorvehicle company's greif, they said on the local new's tonight this is haulting the VE's progression.

That's not good. That will effect Ford aswell by the sounds of it. Doesn't sound like an easy fix issue either, very complicated in fact. Holden must be very disappointed.

Yep, Ford will not be making cars tomorrow because of this. Normally when these suppliers have problems it effects both Holden and Ford as they buy from the same supplier. You would be surprised how many companies sell to both because the quantity to only one isn't enough.

Highly unlikely jimmy. Last I heard (3 weeks ago)Ford had a stockpile of BF Falcon wagons to move, you shouldn't be waiting in theory.

Does the strike affect Toyota and Mitsubishi as well?

I'd say Holden must have some parts for the VZ wagons stockpiled for them to switch production back to the VZ. It's efficient management of their assembly plant to apply their resources in this manner.

ABOUT 2000 workers at a Ford plant in Melbourne have been stood down because of a strike at a car parts manufacturer in the state.

If the car is brand new on order than if it hasn't been built he will have to wait as there are specific cars (have a serial number or the last 7 digits in the vin) for customers.

No cars were getting produced on Monday anyway.

No idea, they could be or they could have enough stock to not be effected, or they could have made the days production days off or something.

I would have said that a few yr's back when HRT were winning, but in the last couple off yr's I think I've seen more Blue oval gear on people espically young people around Bendigo than the red stuff, It's good.

I have client that does work in the Elizabeth Factory and they said that if they (external company) cause the production line to stop, they were charged $4,000 per minute as a penalty.
When I was there 18 months ago the production line stopped as they had run out of body sides. Great place to look around, pity they were all holdens....

Because Bogans are all union stooges, and well, Holden is a bogan car.
The bogan code is to avoid hurting bogans at any cost. Sort of like the yobbo's that rioted in Macquarie fields.
Therefore the unions did a deal entwined in the sacred bogan code(much the same as Doug Cameron sold his soul to satan).

Sorry to hear about your situation Bossxr8. I hope Ford can get supply soon and you can get back to work.
Just for future reference, my company will be buying atleast 3 BF2 LTD's when released in around October, as they may be the last ever. Additionally, I have 4 colleagues considering the same.

Monday is a 60% downday, but friday was never a planned as a downday. As I understood it, the stepdown day was no pay for the operators.

Organising stamping presses and the like is a MASSIVE job. For this reason alone there is no way they would have taken a backward step creating old cars. But really, as if! I can see it now.. "Uh Mr SMITH, that new VE you ordered.. Well we had a few hiccups and it's now a VZ. Hope you don't mind. Here, as a consolation here's some mats and headlight protectors. Hope this make up for it."

And since when do 'bogans' go out and buy brand new Holdens? Sure, a lot of them may drive VB-VL's but then again there is certainly no shortage of ford loving bogans either.

Holden were always planning to build the VE and VZ simultaniously, as the ute and wagon are carryover models. So with a shortage of VE parts they can continue to build VZ and not stand down operators

Remember, VE wagons and utes aren't due until late 2008 so we will see VZ's for a while to come.

im from bendigo, and yeah its Empire Rubber that has shut down, or should i say 'strike'! the owner or manager has put all the companies money into stock markets or something similar (investments) and the workers weren't being paid. theres an Empire Rubber in melbourne too but they have gone on strike also in support for the bendigo Empire Rubber. so now people have been sacked and the company dosen't have enough money to pay them out.

all just a big mess!!

cheers
Braden
