I live in Brisbane, recently went to Melbourne, are l and p platers limited to a different speed? My wife and I lost track as to how many L & P platers were doing 40 to 50 k's under the speed limit.

im not to sure on this as i have heard its 10k's under the limt however i sit on the speed limtand have never been picked up in 2 years (for the L's that is) P plates i dont belive there is anything like that

you can go at what the speed sign says.. i think nsw is the only state where you have to go 10/20 k's under.

I've traveled interstate with my family serveral times for my sports when I was on my L's and have always done the signed speed limit, nowhere when goin for your Learners in Victoria does it state about other restrictions in other states regarding their road rules, perhaps Vic Road should have another look at the driver education of Learners.
Or is it one of those rules that you never get told but the onus is on the driver to should have known! Do anybody know of anyone from Victoria being booked in NSW over these rules for learners?

The rules for SA as I know them for when I did my licence test.
L platers = 80k max, no passengers. P platers = Passengers + 100k max. |

If in another state you have to abide by their rules but in N.S.W its
L Plate= 80kph 1st year Red P Plate 90kph 2nd and 3rd year Green P Plate 100kph. Nothing to do with 10/20/ under the speed limit. Still no restriction on passengers.

yeah no matter where you are you have to follow the liscencing laws of the state your licence was issued under.
