1. it is in your ford manual .. it is about 1.9 litres
2.yes it can .. but yeh just soo it fits !
3. when i fit T5's put the bell housing on first .. makes the job 1000 times easier or .. like .. 400,000 extion bars and a uni joint on it ..

1. Dexron II 1.9L
2. Yep under the block, should be a clip on the steering gear housing to hold it in.
3 No idea.

if you have a trolley jack, and a piece of timber, jack the front of the motor to it will tilt the motor, allowing more access to the upper bellhousing bolts. also you will need a million extensions. only tilt the motor enough to allow access.

this is how rollin put my gearbox in.

Pat the way I did it was crack it loose with a heap of extensions and a uni on the end then undo by hand, but yeah it's a pain in the ****. Also what OED said helps heaps, undo the rear crossmember bolts a bit so it drops down. Good luck!

lol John, don't teach him how to break diffs now will ya. :P

I reckon its easier with the gearbox in one piece...

take the tailshaft out, gear lever off, clutch cable off, undo the mounts for the exhaust, undo the two 13mm bolts that hold the gearbox in (while supporting with a jack) lower it until the engine mounts are taking the full weight of the box.

unplug the wiring harness, undo the starter motor and push it back a little (helps to take off a battery terminal too, otherwise you get sparks :P undo all the bolts (using long extensions) except one of the bottom 13mm ones. put an extra stand under the harmonic balancer with a block of wood on top to hold the motor on the angle it is with the gearbox hanging off it.

support the gearbox in the middle and undo the final bolt, wriggle the box backwards and down, then do whatever you have to do, and put it back together in the reverse order...

its only 4 extra bolts for the box onto the bellhousing, and its alot easy and dont have to squeez ur hand up the trans tunnle to try and line the socket up. but if u cant get to the top bolt with the box on, undo the 4 bolts and try that

I go around the side of the bellhousing rather than try and rach along the whole gearbox to put the socket on - when the motor is on an angle there is room.

Also, IMHO its harder to line up the throwout bearing and the spigot/input shaft splines than just the input shaft splines and some dowels.

yeah rollin is on the money, I have done it both ways and separating the bellhousing just creates more work for yourself. The T5's don't weight much anyway.

so did you get the sik re t5 in yet uleh Pat, or did you get drunk instead. :P
