Just to get my big V8 weekend off to a kicking start I've had the most bizarre car trouble. My partner and I got in the EL, kicked her over then went to turn on the lights... and i end up with the plastic knob in my hand.
Very strange because I'm not rough on any of the buttons in my car, but when I need some light it gives up the ghost. I hope superglue'll fix it. Has anyone else had plastic button failures in the past?

Apparently light switch breakage is fairly common, you should have no problem getting a new one from Ford or Coventry ($15-$20 if I remember rightly).

will have to look into that... I've had a go at glueing it back together... see how that works out in the morning.
Oh well - can still look forward to a weekend of sunning it up watch Ford kick some *** at Barbagello

Yeah the EF switch gave up ghost about 6 months ago. The plastic just gets brittle.

Found the spring some months later - wedged behind the kick panel. Talking of plastic bits on Fords, I wonder what other components break as it might pay us to get spares while still available. Some other stuff for me were the headrest slides which just fell apart and the brake booster splitting (rather scary for the wife in the middle of peak hour traffic).

I seem to have been lucky. A bit of Araldite and left to dry for a day and it's working as normal again... for how long I don't know. I think I'll get a spare anyway, just incase this happens again. Thanks for the advice fellas
