I see a local Ford (either EF or EL model) painted in that metallic orange colour which was available on the VT Series II Commonbores. Don't understand why people do that do a car.

They're just fooking stripes. Its probably more the case that the owner likes the design on BAs and put it on his/her car. Pretty simple really.
If someone puts two stripes on the roof/bonnet/boot of the car, people are going to scream "Cobra ripoff!" as well...
