Some people get a lemon, then they get it fixed up a little and get over it.
Some people just don't get over it, or they expect to much.

The Chevy was owned by a graphics business, the OP's Ford pic - the sign was done by another Ford owner - the little bit at the bottom says so. In both cases they would have got it done on the cheap.

Couldn't you just simply tell him that Ford felt sorry for some of the workers for Holden when they lost their jobs and offered them jobs so that they had work...
This was the result.. hence the unemployment stats went up and they workers are no longer working :
Now Ford are still actually trying to figure out how to fix the strange stuffs up from these ex-Holden employees.... could take some time, its very hard to think the way these Holden people do you know!!!!
And the guy that owned this car was simply to impatient (or just doesnt understand how ИИИИИed up holden minds actually are) to wait for a resolution...

I've heard about that XR6T, but I never thought I'd see the pic.

This one shows it's still happening!
AFAIK they never had, nor never will fix GenIII engine problems .. my limited research (owning one of said GenIIIs - '03 VY1 SV8 - with supposed problem) indicates that inherit design and assembly issues cause this. Most likely the cast-in steel liners, lack of torque-plate honing, wide piston/wall tolerance (for performance/economy), etc. Also AFAIK the GenIV engines - LS2s? - (as seen in current HSVs) should not be as bad because of changes to design/assembly .. particularly the pressed in liners and proper honing, etc.
My '03 5.7L was replaced for excessive gudgeon pin noise at 80,000km .. after I changed dealers to one who stopped telling me that noise was "normal". However, in it's favour that engine still went like a cut cat, was very economical, used no oil between changes and never had any issue other than the noise. My "new" engine has done approx 20,000km and after some initial problems with excessive oil consumption at run-in has settled down to be almost identical to the original engine, but without all the noisy theatrics ..
My two cents.
Rod.

There is an AU ute going around Brookvale in Sydney with lemons splashed all over and words to the effect of "This car is a lemon..etc".

Not sure what it achieves as punters know every make has a lemon here and there and it would be unlikely to sway anyone's buying preferences. The ironic part is the ute is a company car for a local automotive repair joint.
