Default Shell Helix Eco 10

Hi,

I used Shell Helix Eco 10 10w-30 in my AUII Intec 6 for the my Sydney to Adelaide round trip. The car used about a litre of oil, it never used any oil on previous trips. The car has done 100,000ks

Has anyone experienced similar problems with this oil? Should I now be using 10w-40 grade oil instead?

GF

Well sounds like its not up to the heat of a falcon six, ur better off using Castrol Gtx4? or the Magnatec one. Thats what every FOrd mechanic tells me.
But I use 10w-40 in mine now, just cos its just about to hit 110000 kays.

What weight oil do you normally run in the car, I would say 30 is to thin so just slipped past the rings and got burnt off. I would suggest 10-40 or 5-50 as a better oil to use.

i looked at that stuff glad i decided against it, I plan to use the mobil 10-40 syntheticaly modified oil in my engine, or if i get a job will go the mobil fully synthetic which is 5-50.

The filler cap says use 10w-30 oil. I used to use Penrite 10w-30 with no probs, but its probably to time to use a 10w-40 grade oil
