Official website. What do you reckon? Looks a lot like a BA/F Falcon. Especially the lines on the rear quarter panel (Click on Aurion revealed on the navigation bar at the bottom for this view). I don't reckon its too bad at all. Mind you, this is probably the top of the line model and it is a computer gen by the looks of things. But a nice departure from boring. Site reckons it'll have 190kw, with a high performance model to come. Hopefully that means supercharged V6 and not the same engine with rice. I don't think a sporty intentioned car with rice but the same engine works anyway. Hopefully they've seen the light. |

Thats certainly one of the best designs by toyota yet, aussie design i think they said.
it has a lot in common with the BA/F but looks kinda different at the rear Still hasnt said if its a rear or front wheel drive though I give it a thumbs up for looks.

What I don't get is how did this "change the way we see the Aussie Six"??? I mean they did this big advertising campaign then release a car with the same power as a falcon/commodore....whats the difference we should all be seeing??!!

The guy who designed this was former Ford designer, Nick Hogios, who did the BA XR design.

Very nice ,If only it was RWD ,It would give Ford and Holden a good run for there money ,190Kw Std FWD and the sportivo Has a Super charger on top of that , It's going to have some major Torque steer IMO
I wish they would make it RWD V6 and V8 and enter the V8 supercar race to liven it up. |

So this VVti (Variable Valve Timing with intelligence) is the same as our VCT. With 190kw that is what our Falcon has, so no difference there, Dual Overhead cam, no difference there. It just seems a bit of a **** to me. By adding the name *intelligence* Toyota is going is completely different direction as the rest of Australia. Maybe Holden but that is about it.

No they wont. Toyota can not justify a RWD V8. Although the Lexus motor would be great.

At first glance, I thought it was a Falcon X Commodore with a hint of Camry.

the looks are fantastic, but everything is going to be FWD soon. only the true performance cars will get rwd. making a fwd car is so much easier on the line and car manufacturers are about the dollar signs.

essetially they are the same though arent they? variable valve timing vs. variable cam timing. both are systems where the advance on the cam is alterd to produce a better cam profile at the top end.

I like the styling, Toyota claim market research kept going back to power, it should also have gone back to RWD, they still don't get it.

it does look pretty fresh for a toyota!
only thing that i think lets it down, is the height of the car, the doors are still VERY big by the looks of it, so from the side it will probably still look like a camry, which will mean any wheels smaller than 19 inches will look terrible! |

Yeah, I remember they even made the Camry sportivo look hot before it was released, then somehow they "valmorphinised" it to look like it does.
We'll wait and see, but I can see a huge market for the indians and asians.

The doors make it look like a Camry because they are Camry doors and glass.

I know its been said, but rear wheel drive at least and maybe even a V8 model would be a real shake up. How are you supposed to go sliding in a front wheel drive? But imagine it in RWD form with the Lexus V8, and you win lots of fans. Just my two cents.

The Model in the Acid Rush Colour on the web site, looks a bit like the torana concept from the front. The wheels look small. Its only going to appeal to the current crop of Toyota owners and maybe sell more units keeping the toyota buyers from switching. Its an ugly looking car, huge improvement on the current Camry, but It's still ugly. I wouldn't buy one, even if it as $2,500 and had 1000 kw
