if you want chrome on the sides do what I did Pat

if you wanna fully colourcode the sides just get some GLi or Spack mouldings and paint them since they have no chrome.

ive been told how its done properly... by a guy that does chrome strip / pin stripes etc

get a very sharp blade and remove the dodgy chrome strip out of the side mould - as in totally remove the section with the strip in it
then get from ford 2 rear bar chrome strips, 1 each will do each side of the car.....

cut them to length and stick them in place where the removed stip was...

You can buy the chrome tape off ebay for $35 with enough to do front and rear bumpers, but will need 2 rolls to do sides too. Possibly could get the same stuff cheaper from a trimmer/detailer?
As for colour coding the plastic parts, id like to know how it can be done DIY, or how much to expect to pay to have them professionally sprayed? Any ideas?

Hey mate,

I just went to a local vinyl and bumper specialist.. cost me $100 for front and rear new inserts and chrome tape on the sides.. looks a treat and doesn't involve killing the moulds..

Cheers,
Nik

bumper tape is alot thicker than side door mould tape so it wont work, when i got my car resprayed i went to pick a part and got whole set of un painted ones, got em painted and got the chrome put on by a pin striper, cost me 40 for both sides.
Its a lot easier too paint bare ones that painted ones!

Yer the same place.. Really nice folks in there.. Only cost me $20 to get a tear in my vinyl fixed.. came up like new.. They work pretty varied hours though as they often have to go onsite..

Cheers,
Nik
