Default gym equipment

hey guys, going to do a bit of fitness work and "body Building" this year.
I need to get some more equipment together, so far i have bought an electric treadmill, bench press station, and 2 X dumbell sets.
I want to buy one of those 3 in one machines though, with the pull down thing, the leg thing, and the butterfly thing that does your chest.
Now, anyone know what they are called and know of any good brands or what I should be looking for?

And NO, its not my new years resolution!

You could always lay on your back on the bench you have and do fly's with dumbells. One less thing your machine has to do then

mate, treadmills are a waste of money! just go for a walk in the morning or evening, costs nothing, you get to breathe fresh air.

Not only that but freeweights are better i found any way.Actually if you got a long bar and 2 adjustable dumbells you coul probaly do three quarters of the exercises you wanted or needed to do.

haha yeah, i know what your all saying, but its not just for me, its for my old lady also.
I dont really want to walk around my neck of the woods too much, so treadmill is a better option.

I will wait, and do some free wight training in the meantime.
cheers

For the same money, you could have a gym membership for a year.

Check the trading post for that kind of gear. Plenty of stuff in there and its kind of hard for the stuff to wear out and be useless.

Perhaps you don't have a gym nearby, or you don't like any of the gyms that are nearby. Also I perfer to work out at home, so I can spend that extra 20 minute return trip doing more exercise.

Personally I rent exercise equipment. We have a place nearby that does some good priced equipment rentals which is about $85 a month, and what my partner and I do is rent a piece of equipment for 2 months, and then get something different. Started with a ellipical trainer, now got a bike, will get a treadmill next, and then perhaps a multi-weight machine (3 or 4 in 1 device).

Thumbs up

Also if you are serious or even half serious write down what you do and how much, dont try to do too much at once, pace yourself.Weigh yourself once a week. If you are trying to lose weight try to cut out/down on something sugary.Even in one month you will see an improvement. :

I have a weight bench about 5 meters from my lounge chair plus a set of dumbells but I still go to the gym to use their weights.... :S

A weight bench will do everything you need to get into shape and the dumbells are great for different areas. Getting a multigym is pretty much a waste of money as most of the things you do on there can be done with weights and a bench seat.

Was member of gym for a while but did not really like the atmosphere. Pumping roids and staring at myself in the mirror was not my scene. My plan is to buy a bike and use it!!! :

Join a gym, the benefits are worth it:

1) You'll spend more money buying decent equipment than 2-3 years of membership will cost.
2) you'll have access to better equipment anyway.
3) you'll get stale training at home and will work harder at a gym.
4) keep your fitness activities seperate from your home and relaxation environment.

and

5) Hot chicks train at gyms!

I have a gym membership. Best thing for me as I do have cardio equipment at home too but dont use it. I have good intentions to but never get around to it or have too many other things to do. When Im at the gym, thats where I focus, coz Ive made the effort to get there plus Ive paid my fee so I want to get my money's worth. Thats enough motivation for me to excercise. And as 4Vman said, 'Hot Chicks train at gyms'. The gym I go to has the aerobics room under the same roof with glass windows so you can get your sweat up either way! :hihi:
