Default New here!

Hmm can't find an intro forum so I'll say HI! here.

My brother Jon referred me to this site (DragonV8) and so ... I'm here.

I was lucky enough to purchase a Ford ED at a terrific price from my nephew Scott and have never gotten sick of driving it! (Used to have an XD... you know the steering in those things : )..

Anyway, looking forward to posting. As soon as I know the code for posting pics I will post one of my car LOL..

Annie xx

KEEPLEFT is a very knowledgible person on road safety, rules, regs, road design etc, etc, etc and is always extolling the virtues of carrying a reflective triangle in the car for emergencies. He seems to know the part number for same from every manufacturer and then some. He wishes everyone to stay safe on our roads as we all do but he pushes the triangle thing every chance he gets and being as there have been so many new members in the last day or two they have all copped his spiel. Anyway welcome aboard and have lots of fun and laughs.

I had one of those "Stop Police" Triangles on my back window. Its purpose was to attract the police officers if my car was out after midnight. Juuust in case it was stolen.

Had the car 11 years and never got pulled over once. Worked well eh?

in i think both the pub and the bar (i know at least the bar) posts dont count on the counter...

its because there is such a large amount of traffic in the bar that people were continuously posting to build their post count up.... as though it were some sort of game.....

Thanks you Mr McMaster, - and I thought I was just hungover?!

AND btw - only done this standard Keepleft Intro TWICE! Some of you are too sensitive or precious, build a bridge, live and move on.

I take every cheeky moment I can to further a good cause, I've joyfully attended too many freeway and highway crashes over the years where I've had to deploy the items. Typically after first having had to remove dazed knuckle dragging bogans wearing flannies (and that's just the women), - waving their arms about insanely in utterly lunatic attempts to slow approach traffic down - so it in turn doesn't prang into the already crashed Nissan 120Y's and and impacted Lada Niva's, Commodores n Camry's scattered on the road up ahead.. Sometimes mingled with body parts (both the arm wavers and crash survivors) and screaming remains. Sometimes they live.

Annie wrote: "Wth is this triangle anyway... I didn't take much notice of it anyway".

Annie, Anyway anyway - don't take it personally that you don't know what a hazard warning triangle is (Which is actually quite scary for you truck drivers bearing over 12 tonnes GVM) you simply have not been taught anything other than how to obtain a license in order to drive. Basically Annie you've been defrauded! I suggest you sue your government for not teaching you the basics of responsible roadcraft and vehicle ownership that are taught to 14 year olds in even, gasp, Latvia!

However, for those of you who are Tasmanian, you are now taught, see Page 73 here (Pdf 260kb) - right click and 'save-as':
http://www.transport.tas.gov.au/lice..._v3_part_3.pdf

For those of you in NSW, you too are taught, since May 2005. See here, Pdf 2.48Mb, Page 83. Right click, choose 'save-as':
http://www.rta.nsw.gov.au/licensing/...englishweb.pdf

Links above Annie should answer your question. If you think hazard warning lights are sufficient alone, no, absolutely not always, sometimes alone they are utterly hopeless.

Annie then wrote:
"Had one of those "Stop Police" Triangles on my back window. Its purpose was to attract the police officers if my car was out after midnight. Juuust in case it was stolen.

Had the car 11 years and never got pulled over once. Worked well eh"

NOT the same thing Annie by a long shot K.

Welcome btw. I'll behave a bit more, had a coffee.

Why the insults? I didn't notice your advertisement for it, that's all!

Wow, this sticker makes me invincible then, because my years of safe driving are futile.(Not one demerit point in all my years of driving)

I wasn't comparing your sticker to the one I had. I just mentioned that the sticker was ignored by cops .

Go out in the cool air and chill man. You seemed to get hot under the collar too easily. Does that make you a good advocate of this triangle?

Gee thanks for the welcome.. I should have been born in Latvia ..go have your coffee. Please.

Annie, its NOT an insult, it an absolute fact, AND it does not apply to just you, it truely applies to most people born in Australia. But change is happening for the positive.

Wow, this sticker makes me invincible then, because my years of safe driving are futile.(Not one demerit point in all my years of driving)

Be assured A, most often, the person who will kill your child in a car crash will bear what in NSW we call a 'gold license'. It just means they haven't come under police notice is all, it doesn't make them good drivers. Don't be conned otherwise.

People have complained all over the western world about the reduction in real serving police numbers when offset against those who leave the force, die or retire. And so less exposure to them when one is being naughtly on the road.

I haven't seen the sticker you mention, but would not use it myself, nor do I advocate "Baby On Board" plates/stickers. Delays in searching wreckage for non existant baby/babies have serious potential for otehr survivors.

I wasn't comparing your sticker to the one I had. I just mentioned that the sticker was ignored by cops .

I'd have pulled you up for it, had I been serving, if only out of curiousity, or to determine if an indictable offence had been committed.

Go out in the cool air and chill man. You seemed to get hot under the collar too easily. Does that make you a good advocate of this triangle?

I am an old (42), cranky NSW Motorist's Advocate that takes certain matters seriously, this is just one of them.

Gee thanks for the welcome.. I should have been born in Latvia ..go have your coffee. Please.
OR Germany, Austria, Italy, Poland, Hungary, Spain, etc - welcome again, thanks.
