Default RC Cars and The Members Who Drive Em?

Howdy PPLS,

I know ther must be a few other peeps in these forums that own Remote control cars??

I have have been into the hobby for about 5 years, mainly just bunging it around the street at wee hours in the morning, but used to race em for monies.

Just curious to see who else shares this hobby with me.

here is a sample of it at play

I lost interest in mine. I've had mine since about 1998. Mines got a Novarossi Race .15cc engine.

In that video that engine sounds lean. You should see smoke at all times. Otherwise it'll break. That second car looked like the mixtures were right ;)

I will definitly be strapping a camera on the roof for some fun. The yellow one is mine and doesnt have a tuned pipe compare to my bros (blue). Mine is alot louder and hasnt been tuned correctly so the mixtures werent right.

I have since tuned the crap out of it and goes alot better. just need to force myself to put in 30% nitro. I ..... Must. Do.... It

Ill try and get some pixxies up of whats been done to it, but concidering ive raced with peeps who have spent 2 grand plus on mods, it still causes a stir as it is pretty much stock, except for 2 speed and pipe and rides as if on rails.

um well 5 years ago stock they were about 700, now its probably worth about 300 and that including mods to suspension, 2 speed tranny, tuned pipe, carbon fibre clutch and other various parts.

The ones now that are much more improved will be about 600 - 700 but still stock.

Hopefully i can pick up a 1.5hp engine for under 500 bucks, then the serious stuff will happen.

well ones like mine with a 2 speed can hit about 50 - 60km/h fully modded.

A bigger/powerful engine, bigger pipe, ported, running 30+ nitro may see about 80- 100km/h.

The fastest ive seen is on a video where the car is on a oval track with a string attached to it so its in the same position as its going around.

Top Speed = 202MPH

I have 2 cars at the moment... a Schumacher XTR-3E Stadium Truck with a .21 engine and 3 speed transmission that'll hit 110Kph out of the box PLUS a HPI Savage Monster Truck with Collari .32 (3.65HP) engine and 3 speed transmission (plus many other extra bits).
Will post pics later if anyones interested.

I used to race On-road Nitro cars. I had a couple of the trusty Kyosho V-One S's, a V-One RR Evo and an Mugen MTX-3. I used to be obsessed with it and poured all my money into it. But then the fun went out of it, I was close to turning 18 and wanted a real car so the toys had to go :Reverend:

It gets like that. In one of my cars it cost a small fortune to repair if you smashed it. Cost were like repairing a real car. One weekend there was a track issue and I smashed 3 times! :

My cars inc radio gear owed me $6500. I ran FM radio gear with a frequency just above the normal FM range. Came if handy when I'd get accused of interferance. ;) I had to have 3 frequencies for the cars on race days just incase.

I got sick of only being able to use them on the track due to the speeds they did. My Pure 10 had a .12 Novarossi R (35000rpm). It was faster than most of the 2spd cars. I sold that one to my brother inlaw a few years ago. Still got the Neo though.

I should have got into buggies or monster trucks. More money but more places you can take them.

Default rc cars

I'm out of the game now but started in 1991 when I got a tamiya off road 1/10th electric car
Only had the stock bits in it but was a good beginners car
In 95 I stepped up to a off road yokomo yz 10 dogfighter 1/10th scale belt drive electric which has carbon fibre chassis, yokomo/reddy 10 turn triple motor, top notch batteries and quick change plugs (from battery to motor)
With spares and all the best equipment you could buy then including an 11 turn double epic motor as a spare, all up $2000
With this full spec race car there was no reverse and only one speed

Once I tweaked it on the penfield 1/4 scale speedway track and the skid kids dolomote track at salisbury, approx 60-75 km/h and believe me for a car that size, that is honking
They are great fun but with the serious r/c cars you need to be pretty smart mechanically to be able to fix em
My knowledge was pretty poor but slowly but surely with help from hobby habbit, got the nack and only had to call on them to re build the race spec diff

Spent every sunday out on the 1/4 scale speedway track (behind holdens) giving it plenty of stick with dirt going everywhere
Used to love throwing it into the corners, dab the brakes, bit of opposite lock and scream down the straights at 50,000 rpm

The speedway track is still there and racing is held fairly regularly but the clay track is gone due to the re developments

luddenhamquarterscalespeedway.com
saquarterscale.com

These guys are serious racers
