Default want exhaust louder

hi all, just wondering about a few things..
ok i have a cat back exhaust which is a decent tone and all but i want it louder.. it has one muffler and a resonater.. i want it alot louder..
i was thinking of taking these out and just having piping all the way through..
i drive like a grandma but i want to hear a hell of alot of grunt when i need power..
another major reason i want the muffler out is because it is sitting way too low it scrapes over small bumps and bottoms out all the time.. (i cant drive with 5 people in the car)
any thoughts would be appreciated..
thanks all
Nat D

Do Extractors and a free flowing cat before taking out the muffler

you need atleast a resonator.. you dont need it sounding like a badly muffled truck, like a 200sx or something!

mines got a small 14in resonator, no mufflers...

Nat, are you serious?

What car do you have?

Extractors and highflow cat will help with noise.

Keep in mind, if this is a road car the exhaust is measured at 3000 rpm. and I think the limit is 91 DB which isn't very loud.

Nothing at all will sure be loud but it will sound horrible too. I think your exhaust is pretty good as it has a sporty tone but is still fairly restrained. As others have said extractors, cats & a different intake set up will all usually make the car louder anyway.
If you're still set on making it louder I'd try removing the resonator first to see if that provides enough noise for you before going the full hog.
As for scraping have you mentioned it to the place you got the exhaust from maybe they could position it better so it is more tucked away as your car should have plenty of clearance unless you're going crazy.

maybe he dosent have the money for extractors... and a $30 job on ripping the muffler out and welding in a pipe is the alternative?

$400 for JMM extractors, or 450 for some pacemakers, cheaper if you can find some second hand. I recon its worth saving for to have a better sounding car(and more power)

haha maybe you should hear my car..
oddly enough i dont get harrased by coppers for my exhaust, and when pulled over for an RBT or the like, they usually tell me it sounds nice and send me on my merry way..

he was saying he wants to make his car louder, not make it sound like a V8..

LOL its not a "making a 6 sound like an 8 thread"

he simply just wants to make his car louder... sheesh..

If its just louder than straight through pipes. If you haven't got any money either drill some holes in your muffler or cut the exhaust half way.
