I thought those cars were aerodynamically designed to provide enough force to keep them to the ground?

If they get flipped by another car, this could actually work against them, as is probably the case above...

Nasty...

Yes but when they break aerodynamic forces, and say the front nose lifts, they fly! Seen the footage of Webber in the Le Mans racer where it gets some lift, air gets under the front of the car and lands in a tree about 50 metres off the road....

Aerodynamicly designed to stay on the ground unless air gets under them.
I reckon there's another Le Mans flip, fly and crash on one of the old "HAVOC" crash tapes.?

Something noone has pointed out (unless I missed it) was that the race was under Safety Car at the time of the accident... (and don't tell me the marshal got the yellow flag out and the stewards made the decision to deploy the safety car for this incident and radioed the marshal who put the SC board out all in about half a second since the car launched into the air).

yes they are . but when they touch each other tyres they have a tendency to get the nose pointed skyward, and that when they turn from a car to a plane.

Not once ! TWICE !

It happened to him during practise for , i think Le Mans a few years ago , and then it happened the very next day at the same spot in the replacement car ! Althogh he was sharing the car with 2 other drivers , both times it tried to become a satelitte , Webber was at the wheel !

I remember him saying he felt jinxed or the car was out to get him or something !
