Default Focus RS in Aussie?

I was wondering if its possible to get Focus RS is Australia?

would be better than getting a WRX or an EVO, too many of them on the roads.

There is a Focus ST turbo coming to Australia. It's got more power than the RS model. But you could probably import an RS.

Than go the ST. 165kw and 320nm. Runs a straight 5 cylinder turbo engine and a 6 speed manual (no auto available)

The only chance of getting one imported would be as a personal import.

Any idea when the turbo ST will be coming? Any idea on price? Is the turbo ST AWD or just FWD?

I recon it would be pretty hard to import an RS? Cause you would need to either import it for race or live outside the country and have proof you have been using it for more than a year. Thats the only way isn't it?

I thought the RS was a turbo AWD?

It would have been interesting to see the RS Focus released here - a 4WD, turbocharged, Rally-homologated beast of a hatch - but the ST170 can still hold it's own in the current hot hatch climate, providing moderate acceleration with brilliant handling characteristics.

That's wrong, here are some articles on my website on the RS:

Yes, I'm moving to the UK for a few years. I may just have to come back with an RS... we'll see

So I might as well get the Zetec (Or a ST170? are these available in Aussie?) And then turbo or supercharge it myself.

Pitty there's no AWD version :(

I'm tosing up between the Focus and a Corolla Sportivo (I currently own a 97 Corolla)

OH DEAR GOD there's no comparison between a Focus Zetec and a Corolla Sportivo. The Tivo might be a damn sight quicker in a straight line but daaaaamn it's got NOTHING on the handling of even a base model Focus. I'll grant the Sportivo is a good value proposition, but just boringly styled, looks like any other Corolla with a bodykit and I've heard you have to change gears every 2 milliseconds to keep the 6-speed on the power band. Out of interest, a 2.0 96kw Focus Zetec has the same torque as a 141kw 1.8 Corolla from memory. Power isn't everything and the difference in performance isn't as the figures suggest, real world the Focus would keep a Sportivo more than honest on anything other than a dead straight road.

If you're planning Turbo, then a Focus would be a fantastic base as a car that already handle really well. I'd recommend the Zetec as a cheaper base, but you'd pick up a well priced ST170 if you looked hard enough. Welcome anyway!

The Zetec is an infinitely superior car to the Sportivo with both neck-a-neck speed wise.

The ST would annihilate the Sportivo, wait for that if speed gets you hard.
