I have been watching their Discovery channel program lately and decided to check their site out. Some of the engineering and design is mind blowing.
My favorites being the, Fire bike Black Widow bike I Robot bike Cat bike Carrol Shelby bike http://www.orangecountychoppers.com/...er2_theme1.php

No I don't think they are hacks at all I have had the whole season for ages now and am still amazed each and every time I watch it. Having the vision and the skills to make these bikes from just an idea in ones head is nothing short of amazing.
the fire bike and comanche helicopter bike are my favourites, if you don't think that the manufacture and design of that comanche bike is engineering, I don't know what is. Chippa

great show, however ive noticd in some of the newer epsodes (on pay) that paulie jnr just doesnt seem to have his heart in like the earlier bikes.
plus they use that cutting machine (cant remember the name) too much! Biker build off last night was great, i love the Exile cycles bikes. the style is perfect for my tastes...

I will be watching it tonight, I watch it every week! They have talent and style. My favorite is the Carol Shelby Chopper. I want it! Mikey needs ti die, I hate him with a passion and I can see him distroy OCC, he never does anything constructive even when building his own bikes!

Scotty Cox and the bike he biult for Biker Build Off was my all time favourite
That new fabricator on OCC ( Rick i think is his name) makes Paul Jr. look like a monkey when you see that Rick manufactures all the hard custom fab jobs..

Jesse Rooke's bike was phenominal too.... that guy can fabricate and engineer stuff for real. Such a simple, clean, subtle bike, and light too. weighed about 2/3rd of what anyone elses bike did. Now, the Fab work on the Aprillia MotoGP bike is nothing short of phenominal...

Bloody awesome show....very entertaining!
And I can't see how they are "hacks" or "not engineers"...how the hell do they build those things then if they just bodge them together...you dont see all the initial design stuff that goes on...the bikes dont build themselves...

OCC are just a higher level of Bodging. They use bought in frames, bought in motors, and assemble stuff, then tack a funny shaped tank or mudgard onto the bike. Watch Overhaulin (Chip Foose's show) or Boyd Coddingtons ahow, and there's a whole different level of skill involved.

I really enjoy the OCC show and whether they are engineers or not the fact is , is that everyone knows who they are and what they do, Unlike other shows/bike builders being mentioned in this thread.
They are the pioneers of this kind of tv show and are building bikes for some of the biggest corporations in the USA with huge budgets and are obviously doing something right. I would bet they could engineer and build a bike from scratch if they wanted or had the time to do,

Had the time to do? Jesse Rooke built his *entire* bike in the time alloted for the biker build off (7? days). The rules let you come into the show with the frame already built, he built his while the clock was ticking... Engineering stuff is not about "Having the time to do it", its about designing the stuff so you get it right (or very close to) first time out.

Same as the early episodes of Rides. Some of Chip Foose and Troy Trepanier's creations are just mind blowing. Just can't hack Jason Preistley and his narration through the entire show  Such a tosser! |

the judging on world biker build off was a joke
clearly the aussie bike should have won, but it came down to a public vote with little kids etc, and they just pic the one with cool paint. my favourite was the black exile bike, the style was amazing. but the aussie bike was easily the best built.....

I can't stand harleys, but i must admit i like these creations and look at them more as art then a well engineered/designed motorcycle (anything with 5 feet of rake won't handle!!) and i haven't seen a great deal of the shows, one of the memerable ones that I have seen was the second "web bike" they made, all in all I admire the workmanship that goes into these bikes (i'm grouping all the shows in one here) and the comment about things just being tacked, in several of the shows "jnr" made reference to tacking all the peices into place until he was happy with the design, then passing it onto one of the other guys who was the welder/fabricator. I did se a few of the "rides" shows as well which showed tim allens hot rod that was custom built then when on to another show of the bloke who makes custom rod and cars......what can i say WOW!!!! makes me want to learn how to use an english wheel!! (and move to a country thats not so anal about car design regs)

Mickey is funny.
I agree with you XD-Machine that Vinni does the most of the work and last week snr shouted at him on the gilette bike part 2. Favourit bikes are: the Comanchy, Black Widow, Fire bike and the mikcy and Vinni bike. Rides is a great show. Especially when they feature Chip Foose the denominator workshop (fat guy with a f'd up voice and Moal. Also monster garage. Just to see the stuff that they transform.

A - are an engineer B - Obviously don't like OCC and prefer Biker Build off. Obviously a few others as well as myself on here don't understand the definition of engineering to what you do for that my apologies. Still love the show OCC - and if I could "Hack" as well as they do I wouldn't give a toss if it was called engineering or not, cause I'd have too much money to care ! Chippa

If anyone saw last nights effort, they wanted to notch a chrome moly frame in half to fit the engine on an 8 sec drag bike... Nice work guys ...rofl Even when the expert told them it would be dangerous they still wanted to do it.. they are fabricators not engineers and last nights episode prove Gammaboy right
