Anyone watching the cricket? Australia are being "pumped" by the poms. Looks like the ashes will be Englands to lose from here. Is this the end of Australia's domination in this sport? The one day lost to Bangladesh.. now the ashes.
Aussies are probably going to be forced to follow on if they don't make the target.

Yes we need to blood some young ones, to many older statesman need a blend.
. Funny thing is Rod Marsh took control of Englands Cricket Academy a few years back now the poms are flying, and there catching has improved out of site.

Seems like our batsman need a rocket shoved up there ......... They can score runs against the county teams or in lead up matches against nobodiesbut when the time comes to step up to the plate they bloody crumble. Good for cricket I reckon and about time for some of these old pricks to make way for some new up and coming players. Thats what they get after getting rid of an absoloute star like Steve Waugh.

Guys it had to happen ...its the old gunslinger theory,no matter how fast/good you are there is someone around the corner who is better. This may just be the wake up call we needed.

C'mon on mate, Steve Waugh went out on top an aussie hero and icon, if he was still there now could you imagine the flak he would be getting, It would be alot like the the sh*t you are giving to the best cricketing dynasty the world has ever seen. I dont know if you know , but the rest of the cricketing world bowed down and said we are not worthy some years ago , even the cricket mad paki's and Indians will tell you straight up that Australia are on another level compared to every other nation . You can't win em all Fair crack of the whip eh.

The point I am making is that all sports drop players who are not in form. Mathew Hayden? Its no good making runs in games that do not count for anything. Give some one else a chance, they couldnt go any worse thats for sure.
If it wasnt for injury some wouldnt even get a chance. Its harder to get out of the team than it is in. Australia has dominated cricket for a few years and the only place they could go is down.

Looks like it is,we can't complain as we have been on top of the tree for a few years now and like everything else things go in cycles,so it's time we bite the bullit and re build the team.
We should have blooded and introduced younger blokes to have the continuity with a mixture of experience and young cricket team, .Like everybody else they fell into a trap and keeped on playing the same team instead of droppoing a few blokes along the way who were showing bad form and hoping that they will come good soon. Cheers John

We missed McGrath's consistency in the first innings. I reckon Brett Lee is going alright, but Martyn has got to go. When was the last time he had a decent innings?

Well the Australian women's cricket team have lost to the English girls who now hold the Ashes. First time in 42 years have the English women beaten the Australian girls.
Maybe a sign of things to come?

Australia, under the captaincy of Stephen Waugh,
The Australians completed an all nation record sequence of 16 consecutive Test victories that started in October 1999 at Harare and ended in a defeat by India at Kolkata in March 2001. The Australians claimed this record from (Sir) Vivian Richards' West Indians, who set the previous record of 11 consecutive Test victories in 1984. During the new millennium, Waugh's Australians have played 40 Tests and have won 31, drawn three and lost only six. Waugh's overall winning percentage during his captaincy of Australia is 73.6 per cent makes him the most successful long-term captain of any nation in Test history. Even if we do lose the ashes its only 1 series not the end of the world , We are still the best by miles.

Bah! L.F.C if you believe losing the ashes isn't the end of the world you don't know cricket!
FWIW I am loving this competition, it augurs extremely well for cricket in the future, particularly in England where interest was on a major downward spiral. This is why we don't need that pretend cricket Twenty20, Test cricket is what it is all about. Give credit where credit is due though, England are really playing well (even though there are questions over a number of elements). In the long run it will be good for Australian cricket, for too long we have been coasting and haven't been making good selection choices.

What a series!! Exactly what an ashes test series should be, nail biters all the way through. I think we got complacent winning the 1st test as easily as we did and it's bitten us now.
Our batting is a huge disappointment and a couple of the guys really should not be there based on form. Far too many soft dismissals!! What's with all the no-balls our bowlers are giving away?? I just don't understand why this should be. The poms won the 3rd test because of them. Pontings captaincy needs to be examined as well. We need to lift in every department. We don't deserve to retain the ashes based on our current performances.

Without Warne, Lee, and to a lesser extent Katich and Clarke we would be absolutely stuffed. For me, Hayden must go, Katich opens, Hodge takes his place, Clarke at no. 4 and Martyn gets one more chance at no. 5. As for the bowling, byebye Kaspa, in comes McGrath.
The series has been great for cricket, although I am going to whinge and complain about the inconsistancy's in the umpires when deciding LBW decisions. On the positive side, I believe we turned the corner on the last day at Trent Bridge, with McGrath and Lee opening and Warne on fire I believe we will win at The Oval and tie the series. P.S. Does anyone else here just love watching Brett Lee play? Always smiling and putting 110% into it, he typifies what being an Aussie fighter is all about, he'd work himself to death out on the field if it meant an Australian victory. I'm a Victorian and a New South Welshman is my favourite player, whats the world coming to?

i agree on all counts except the umpiring. ok some of the decisions by Billy were pretty dodgy but the other three tests were fine. Brett Lee is a fantastic ambassador for us. i think he typifies the way we are as Aussies, play hard and have fun. |
