Default What's your top temp??

Was a little warm in Perth today.. driving around in the eastern suburbs the outside temp hit 45°C which is good going for Perth (have seen 49°C up in the Pilbara)

So who's got the high score.. I might be on a record today as it's forecast to be hotter.. I guess that's global warming for ya!

It got that hot that the LCD screen faded completely in my old FG Falcon and I couldn't see the screen

"actual" recorded temperature on BOM was 49.9 deg C (app temp was mid-50's that day)
This was in Penrith (Western Sydney - outer metro) 2019

Got a 43 on my car yesterday.
About 5 years ago I was driving from Perth to Shark Bay on North west coastal highway in my Mazda 6 with wife and daughter on board.
It was summer and my car was reading 50 degrees outside.
Car did not miss a beat, air con going.
Saw many other motorists going slow, windows down.

I didn't have that blank screen.
But anything over 45 I was met with something similar to the below.

And eventually discoloured the Monochrome LCD over time

Back in December 2019 whilst returning from Robe in SA's South East we stopped for fuel in Tailem Bend and the temp on the screen of our 07 SY TS read 54* ambient.
Got a pic somewhere, will see if I can find it.
This was the day the huge Cudlee Creek fire broke out, could only imagine how bad it would have been for firies all suited up trying to defend properties in those conditions.
The red glow in the middle of the day was incedible.

I have a pic somewhere of 51°. But, it was only a 38° day and the car was sitting in the sun so very much a false reading.

Got in my car after sitting in the sun here in Perth.
To be fair it did go down to 45 once I was driving.

The 45° from yesterday was while driving after the car was parked underground for the morning so it was a surprise.. got to 46° today driving around before noon

Hit the big 50 today though!

yes, it's unreal.. will need to be detuned a heap before it's let loose on a minesite (we did the same to the Lightning we have onsite) but the independent airbag suspension is awesome, massive torque and uber lux trim inside

Will pop some pics up on the EV thread when I have a chance

Did you see the Long Way Up with Ewan McGregor and Charlie.
They rode two prototype electric Harley's and had two Rivian as support vehicles.
Good show, very interesting with the challenges of EV.

I wouldn’t rely on these gauges to be overly accurate. Every single summer I’ll see someone local to me posting online somewhere a car temp gauge show 45-49.
The highest temp ever recorded on a properly calibrated device around here was 44.9

But yeah, I think the Rivian temp was out a little bit.. must be measuring American °C and got confused with the conversion
